I'm sort of torn. I really like the weighting on claidhs, but lances are just about the same, cheaper to find enchanted, and blessable. You can also trip with them.

My warrior does both. His DS hurts but he is alot of fun to play.

Another pole bonus: Naginatas. If I get 20 or so ranks of AS, I can have an 8x flaring weapon any time I have a scroll with e-blade on it.

looking over the DF's of the two they are pretty close. Its pretty much dead even if you take into account base swing time and the DF. Personally if your going to choose one i would suggest polearms.

Only annoying thing about poles is that only like one of them is a non-puncturing weapon.

I'd take a lance over a claidhmore.

Definatly go with the Claidh, or whenever you get the money you can always get the great massivly critted waraxe...those are mucho fun too.

I'm biased but I say go with polearms.

It depends on your fighting style...

Ambush much from hidin with them lances?

Nope, it was a straight laced warrior, but I rerolled him.

Why hide when you have ewave and haste?

I have run into a few rogues who do the two hander ambush style, and I find that once they get up a few trains they get real deadly.

Got to get those ranks so you can aim a bit though...

Yeah I've got a very heavily damage weighted awl-pike it rules. Not to mention my air flaring ebladed naginata and a few other lances and polearms of various enchant and flare. I like them just because they are different and you have to use alittle bit of your brains while hunting.

Crit weighting > damage weighting

AnticorRifling

I think that depends. I like damage weighting for things that don't crit and on weapons that have good AvD and DF anyway. Just bleed them out vice waiting on the random crit factor. Now on a broadsword or a falchion I think crit weighting is the way to go mos def.

The only reason Falgrin uses edged weapons is because of his 10x altered cleaver. Otherwise, he would be using 2handers or ranged.

Get a 5x bow and some master fletched ebladed arrows and you're sitting at a 10x. Your excuse is petty now give me the cleaver and I'll fetch you a 5x bow and hell I'll have my rogue make you all the master fletched bolts/arrows you want and I'll have Anticor eblade them.

I already have a ranger to make master arrows with. Be silent or you will be grounded... the hard way.
