I'm kinda considering playing again but have a few questions. You guys mind helping? Evidently Simu's offices are closed for the weekend or I'd call and get some of them answered. Honestly though, I'd probably get less bullshit from you guys.

Is there any chance I can get my character back or did it get purged? I have no idea what the PIN was and I'm on a different email account. I still know my super secret mother's maiden name though.

Last time I was around, it was 15 bucks a month to play. Is the pricing still the same? I won't be playing more than one character and won't do platinum or premium.

I used to play a warrior. Have the mechanics changed much? Anything new that would totally deter someone from playing a warrior these days?

Thanks,
Kadumi

You shouldn't have a problem getting your character back. It won't have been purged in the last 5 years. Pricing is now ... $17.95 for one character, I think? Something like that. Depending on what you mean by "five years," you may have stopped just before the GSIV switch. A lot has changed since then, and warriors have recently gotten some nice perks. There's now a combat maneuver system that gives you abilities like the old warrior guild abilities but in a much expanded fashion, an armor support system that lets you make armor resistant to certain types of damage or remove some encumbrance or such temporarily, maneuver benefits to overtraining in armor use, and so forth. You'll especially like weapon bonding, I think.

Thank you for the reply. I played a little bit of GSIV and remember some of the cmans. It was within a year of the release of WoW if I'm not mistaken. I THINK I stopped just about the time paladins came out, but I could be wrong. Funny to see Savants and Monks are 'still in development!'

I suppose the real question is whether or not you guys are still having fun with this game.

Does Simu still have neat events periodically but you still have to shell out more cash to attend? I can't say I'm much for that.

Is the new stuff user-friendly enough so that it won't take much effort/research to get me playing again? To be honest, I was pretty disappointed at the lack of information posted on the GS website. Most of the links to external forums were either broken or horribly outdated.

Try Krakiipedia for info instead. It's much more updated. There are still pay events. The most interesting thing of note right now is that GS: Shattered is supposed to be released by the end of the month (they say). It's a no-rules, no-GM version of GS.

yeah, I just read the thread about shattered. it really kinda killed my enthusiasm about coming back.

I'm certainly not after the pvp aspect. as I remember it, a person would win a duel nearly 100% of the time if they got off the first strike. did they change that?

is this game dying? someone in the shattered thread made a comment about how having 2000 people on at a time was a thing of the past. on a typical day, how many people can I expect to see logged in?

again, thank you for your response

edit: I'm on Krakiipedia and its got the dry info but I was really interested in seeing suggestions on stat placement and skill training, etc. do those sites still exist?

First shot advantages are still pretty evident, but things are more level-based than they used to be. It's hard to kill a character more than 5+ levels above you in most instances.

As for the game dying comment, it's true that the population has declined, but there's a hardcore element that's not going anywhere. You can expect to see 200-450 people in game on most days. If you're still having fun with it, don't worry about declining populations.

Post your potential build in the warrior folder and people can give you some specific advice.

I might be more inclined to help if you were to fix your signature.

Or that could just be my OCD talking.
