This just happened and I thought it was interesting enough to post:

A cold obsidian shard suddenly appears in midair and falls to the ground.

You blink.

[Town Well]
The old well is made of flat stones built up around a circular opening. A slate roof overhangs the opening, keeping the drinking water clear and refreshing. Several skin water buckets, with long ropes attached, are scattered on the hard-packed earth surrounding the well. You also see a cold obsidian shard and a stout rope hanging over the rim of the well.

You glance at a cold obsidian shard.

Alarek just arrived.

You act puzzled.

A cold obsidian shard rolls in a small circle.
>get shard

You reach out to pick up a cold obsidian shard, and your world suddenly shifts dramatically.

[Arctic Cavern]
Shadows creep along four walls of solid ice that form the small cavern. Up twenty feet in the air hovers a fist-sized glaes orb that glows with a soft white light, which only illuminates a small area of the cave. A deep chill clings to the air.

You see The Exiled Nexur.
He appears to be an Elf.
He is tall and slim and appears to be ancient. He has cold obsidian eyes and marble white skin. He has very long, silky bone white hair. He has an angular face, a straight nose and a sharp pointed ears and a high forehead. He has strange pale sigils carved into his skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a cold obsidian shard in his right hand.
He is wearing a fluid silvery robe, and a pair of soft leather sandals.

Nexur is busy right now. Perhaps it's best to leave him be.

You act puzzled.

You hear a voice in your head say, "Hello."

You clear your throat.

You hesitantly say, "Hello."

Nexur put a cold obsidian shard in his silvery robe.

You hear a voice in your head say, "Fate has brought you to me."

You skeptically say, "I don't even begin to know why."

You smirk.

You hear a voice in your head say, "Another step on my path to freedom."

You hear a voice in your head say, "I am at your service, if you will it."

You curiously inquire, "Who are you?"

(OOC) Nexur's player whispers, "1 alter. long or show description. or lighten or deepen of an item. Choice is yours."

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "Ahhh."
[Script]>whisper ooc nexus I must decide what the alter is right now?
What were you referring to?

Babbling again, eh?

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "I must decide what the alter is right now?"

(OOC) Nexur's player whispers, "Yes. Or lighten or deepen of an item."

You rub your chin thoughtfully.

(OOC) Nexur's player whispers, "I can design something for you if you'd like, of one of your items."

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "Didn't expect this at all. I suppose I'll choose the long or show descript. How much time do I have?"

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "Sure!"

You rub your chin thoughtfully.

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "Able to make it a long descript for a rogue?"

You pull some shaggy bearskin leggings off your legs.

(OOC) Nexur's player whispers, "I can do my best. What kind of thing you thinking about?"

Nexur holds out his hand.

You offer your bearskin leggings to Nexur, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.

You say, "Hardly accustomed to underdressing."

Nexur has accepted your offer and is now holding some shaggy bearskin leggings.

You stare at nothing in particular.

Nexur grins wickedly.

You shift your weight.

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "We could be completely cliche and customize it with a black on black with a skull buckle on it."

You laugh softly, trying to hide your amusement.

(OOC) You quietly whisper to Nexur, "I am honestly open to your imagination. As long as it's not girly and of some pink ensemble."

You survey the area.

Nexur shows you some loose sleek black trousers clasped with a small eahnor dagger buckle, which he is holding in his right hand.

You wink and flash a sly grin.

You pleasedly say, "Very good."

Nexur grins.

Speaking appreciatively to Nexur, you say, "Thank you."

You continue, "Now if I may.."

You glance down.

You casually glance at Nexur.

You hear a voice in your head say, "The sacrifice is nearly complete..."

You say, "If my being half-naked isn't enough.."

You smirk.

Nexur steps forward and briefly touches your neck, leaving behind a small mark.

Nexur offers you some loose sleek black trousers clasped with a small eahnor dagger buckle. Type ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it. The offer will expire in 30 seconds.

You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.

You accept Nexur's offer and are now holding some loose sleek black trousers clasped with a small eahnor dagger buckle.

You hear a voice in your head say, "Farewell."

You incline your head.

You dryly say, "Indeed."

Nexur steps back, halfway into the shadows.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I thought it was pretty interesting. Now the character has this: a small dark shard-shaped mark on the neck.

Very cool. So random in its happening. Outside of a festival, I have never dealt with such a situation.

I would have, if the character was a sorc. ;)

I would like to think that it would be conducive to more roleplay in the future but I know better from previous experience. Either way it goes down, I still got an alter out of it. It pays to be curious though! There were two others at the Landing's Well and I just so happened to be paying attention.

Guess this means my character will be going to Solhaven!

Happened to me in Vaalor about a week or so ago. I know of a few others who have experienced the same thing.

It's certainly a cool way to offer services apart from the surprise element and being unprepared factor.

P.S. Not sure what to do with the mark now either. RP it out and see if something comes of it or remove it and move on.

At least you put on a good show -- can you imagine if some newb or, say, Albacora (or however her name was spelled) touched it?

This gets filed under "Things That Are Awesome"

edit: Both the OP and Liberi Fatali's epic tale of the gremlin-slayer longsword. That thing was ugly even back when I hadn't even made the Rift yet with Bigmond, lol.

GM Induced RP 04-13-2010 04:10 PM there was zero RP on your end in that log.
GM Induced RP 04-13-2010 11:52 AM I like how your idea of "RP" is 90% OOC whispers with said GM.

For the fucktards that decided that there was no RP involved.. there was. Yes, there are OOC whispers but there was SOME RP that was induced by the GM. IF you knew anything about my gaming in GS, you wouldn't be a judgmental cunt. Sign your rep if you're going to assume the significance of another individuals role-play. I didn't claim or post anything saying the amount or level of RP involved. /tantrum

Yeah.. I nerd rage sometimes. I have a uterus. It's horrible. That's my excuse.

WHAT?! Uterus is an unacceptable excuse for anything, ever. It should make you smarter, not dumber. Always ALWAYS blame it on a penis. Here. I will teach you proper feminism. "I was traumatized by the non-emotive nature of the people who raised me, they were afterall, conditioned by a non-emotive male society to disregard emotions." and then say "As a result I am only now exploring these previously stunted things called emotions and dont always communicate properly," (here is where you give the man a guilty look and/or attempt to garner sympathy from the woman). Mission accomplished? Good. Swing your hair and sashay away.
