So basically I wrote in my LJ about school today and when my friend saw it they got really upset and pissed off.. now.. I can't really see why they got so upset so I'll let you guys judge if this was as bad as they seemed to think... here's the entry

"Let me just say OH MY GOD.

We had a sub in computer class so of course no one was going to control us. First we had pictures being printed of Greg in like first grade and he looked absolutely ridiculous. Then it got worse..

First it starts with Tom saying I'm going down prom weekend to get ass raped and have it videotaped and I'm going to record it and sell it on the internet. And this is to the entire class so everyone hears. Next Andrew is saying I'm a jew hater and the only way I can't be is if I sleep with a Jewish man (Since he is Jewish).

Then Tom starts saying I want to suck Greg's penis and that I want to suck his penis. Of course I'm red blushing by then and ready to kill someone. God they were annoying... "

If the friend was either Tom or Andrew (the one that got upset), fuck them. The deserve more than just getting angry.

If it wasn't, then I see no reason why a third party would get upset with you.

He was saying that he couldn't believe their actions were allowed in school and no one stopped them.

If its a third party person getting upset, I can *kinda* see that.

I mean..I'm protective of my friends and all, and the shit they where saying was just mean. I'd be upset too.

But I'd not go get in their face and shit..I've got better things to do then fight with morons.

Personally, Leloo, I agree with your friend. That kind of behavior should definitely not be allowed in a classroom. Nobody should be subjected to that sort of treatment at any time.

I'd fucking bitch-whip those ass-clowns.

And I'm a pacifist. Rape is something you never joke about.

Lets just put it this way leloo if something like that happened around me in school it would end up with me getting suspended.
and "hopfully" both of them a lot uglier than before they started talking about stupid shit like that

Definitely qualifies as sexual harassment and you could most likely file a complaint. That the instructor did nothing to stop it would and should also earn him a reprimand. The threat of such should probably be enough to show the two idiots just what assholes they were being.

I got in trouble for sexual harassment in 5th grade because a girl overheard me and a guy talking about 'inappropriate' things. We were making crude jokes or something about body parts. I don't remember.

Anyway, we got a letter and I had to talk with the principle with my mother there and yada yada just because a girl overheard. We weren't even talking to her.

so yeah, that's definitely sexual harassment.

if you even have to ask if that was inappropriate given the circumstances you need to learn how to perceive yourself from a nonbiased vantage.

Pretty damn lame... specially around prom time. I wouldn't call them friends further.

I don't want to, but I agree with Halloween.

Anytime you write something down and let people see it, you need to be extra careful. Leloo, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

Ravenstorm
03-27-2004, 01:13 AM
Now I'm confused...

Just what are you asking 'Is it a big deal?'

Was their behavior a big deal?

Or was you writing it in your LJ a big deal?

In either case, they were idiots, should be slapped down, and if they got upset that other people learned of their idiocy, so much the better. If your friends got upset when they learned about the idiots, they have a right to be upset. And you have no reason to have not written about it. Screw the idiots. If they felt no shame about saying it in public they have no casuse to object to other people learning about it.

I'm 18. And I'm asking if their behavior was that much of a big deal. I guess because I've been in class with them for nearly a year now I've grown used to the shit they say. Yesterday was bit over the top but other than annoying me I didn't see why my friend got so upset over it. They also make jokes that Deb (in our class) gives the teacher sexual favors to get the A.

And that journal entry was restricted so even if they knew my LJ they wouldn't be able to read it.

i remember halloween
03-27-2004, 10:48 AM
yes it is inappropriate what they say, but at this stage of the game you're inability to recognize how out of hand things got is as much to blame as they are.

GSLeloo
03-27-2004, 10:49 AM
The thing is I know they're joking. Yes the jokes are inappropriate and if it had been someone I hate and knew meant the things they were saying, that would be bad. What pissed me off was the fact that they had to yell it to the entire class. I'll get them back.

Myshel
03-27-2004, 11:21 AM
What the big deal is NOT what you wrote in your journal, but the wrongness of what they said in class. I would question how good a friend that person is to you, that would get upset with YOU rather than the assholes in class. I definately wouldn't worry about the friend being upset, tell her or him to suck it up and you have every right to be the upset one, and post whatever the hell you want in YOUR journal.

The thing is my classroom is composed of 95% juniors. There are 5 seniors, being myself, deb, donna, and then the two that were doing it, Mark and Tom. Also the classroom is split in half.. all the seniors on my side with two juniors (Andrew included on our side). The other side is totally juniors and they're insane. Literally insane... they're programming nutcases and break out in song and are always running back and forth and doing shit. The teacher ignores our side cause we're relatively quiet and we don't do anything noticeable (Mark, Tom, and Andrew are usually quiet enough that only we hear it) and so he concentrates on the Juniors side.

And? Doesn't make it any different.

Leloo, hon, you have been insulted. Not only that, but the crude insults took place in a classroom where SOMEBODY should have been in charge. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior, and there is no excuse for any adult within hearing radius tolerating it.

Whether Mark and Tom meant their comments to be insulting, or not, they were waaay out of line. You do not need to accept that kind of treatment, nor should you.

I am not a fan of online journals that can be read by anyone who has access. Journals, to me, are private musings not meant for public view. However, that is just my opinion. Some people seem to enjoy having them. In this case, having one may have done you a favor. Your friend picked up on something of which you did not really understand the import. :)

HarmNone would have reported both the students and the teacher

The sub didn't do anything. The most he did was lock the boys out of the classroom that went running out on scooters.

What kinda school is this? Sounds like the students run things.

This is a public high school. It honestly depends on the class. Vargiens class no one would try anything in. They rush there cause he's so strict. Weiss's class is a bit more relaxed but not much. Elliot (computer teacher whose class this was) is a lot more relaxed. Our English teacher is so out of it that they had a fart machine going off in our class. and our money management teacher? You can do anything. They've climbed out the windows and she hasn't done anything. In fact yesterday they disconnected these wires that starts hissing some sort of gas out of and she wasn't there but the sub didn't do anything either.

I will tell you this, Leloo. If my child were attending that school, and a similar thing happened to him/her, the administration of said school would do ANYTHING just to get rid of me, and the newspaper reporters, and the television news anchors, and anybody else I could dredge up to make their lives miserable until they got that hell hole under control!

How's that for the run-on sentence from hell?

HarmNone would not tolerate this

Just do it back, and tell them that they have small penises.

edit: Best line ever:

I may <insert whatever they're talking about>, but at the end of the day, you still have a small, sad penis.

Well I got Andrew back. Cause as he was going "you have to sleep with a male jew to not hate jews. My father is jewish" I asked him if he slept with his father. And then everyone laughed at him and of course then he said "yes I did when i was younger"

Eh, friend or not, sometimes you have to put a stop to people saying certain things like that to you. Especially out in the open, like in your classroom, in front of a bunch of other people. That's just way too much.

I agree with your friend who got agitated over their antics. Remember, people are only going to treat you as well as you make them. If you don't demand respect, you'll get none..then you can look forward to shit like that. Believe me, people are NOT just like that in high school. Full fledged adults can be WAY WORSE than some of your punk shithead teenagers. It's truly amazing.
