So which candidate does it help/hurt? I can actually see it going either way.
Discuss.

Sounds like Osama wants Kerry to win for some reason. Why is that, I wonder?
Also Osama blames Bush for not being alert. Or at least thats what I heard, anyway. Osama should talk about the part where Clinton let him go. I would find that interesting.
If he attacks before the election it depends on the type of attack.
Bomb and conventional warfare attack favor Bush.
Biological or nuclear attack (dirty bomb) favors Kerry

I had just written a long ass post. And of course the one time I don't CTRL+C the entire text in case I get the "page cannot be displayed" - I get that exact page.
So the summary:
+ Republicans "Bin Laden's still out there, be scared!"
+ Democrats "Don't believe the scare tactics, he doesn't care who's president"
Also mentioned in my inital post is the possibility of the fake tape from the "Al Queda American". We have a thread on that yet?

Typical. I bet you're from Texas or Oklamoha or something aren't you?

Wow, Chelle. Typical scare tactics. He actually said that it didn't matter who won the election, it was the policy.
So that deflates that theory.

Are you kidding? Al-Qaeda wants Bush to win all the way. They got to be in hog heaven, believing that Bush's doing his part to kick the great holy war into gear. And the US isn't even doing shit in Afghanistan any more, and all the NATO allies are pissed off. That's a win-win for the Osama guy and short of Bush burning Korans on live TV or dropping a nuke on Mecca it don't get much better for him.
Whatever Kerry does ain't gonna be the status quo.

Nah that's okay. I am offically out of the political discussions as certain people can't carry on a conversation without being babies.
But thanks for the chuckle.
Why is he still making tapes? Why is he dressed well and groomed? Why isn’t he captured? Why isn’t he dead? Why is he Saudi?

He isn't caught because Bush outsourced the job of capturing him in Tora Bora to Afghan thugs and warlords.

And outsourcing isn’t a problem?

I think that the tape could also go both ways.
For those who are Bush diehard and view security as their primary concern - I imagine that it will just make them feel more confident in their decision to back Bush.
For Kerry - I'm sure that most people are just thinking that is proof positive that Bush screwed up in a big way. There's really no doubt that OBL is alive and well.
I personally think that the explosives story is the more damaging of the two to Bush. Especially with Giuliani saying that it could be the responsibility of the troops in that they didn't search well enough etc.

Giuliani makes me sad. Remember when he was cool? Now he's a hack. :(

I might have been watching too much football this past weekend (God, how I love NFL Sunday Ticket) but I really haven't heard squat about this video tape. I've heard on the internet that Osama said that he would make peace to those states that vote against Bush and make war against those states that vote for him. WTF?

Why can't he fall of his camel and break a neck?
If I had millions you wouldn't catch me on the back of a camel either. I think it could go both ways as far as the tape and doubt it would have any impact on those who've already made their decision. You never know though.

Heh. Camel's are worth tons. I was given a camel. I'm not kidding. Worked at a Military hotel and Saudi dignitaries and princes stayed in our Suites for a week. One of them had a daughter that I apparently reminded him of. So he gave me a camel. I wasn't allowed to accept. Bums.

I don’t see how it could not hurt Bush. Its just another reminder that the real objective is still at large while we’re dealing with Iraq.

[Edited on 11-1-2004 by Caiylania] Yea, camel racing is big in Saudi Arabia, UAE and most of the Arab countries with the wealthiest dignitaries. Damn, they gave you a camel though...that's pretty cool.

Half of me feels that way.. but reality says "Ok, go find a guy that lives in the Rocky Mountains... he'll be hiding and have people that are helping him hide.. but go find him". Finding him would be a feat in itself.. not finding him though isn't that hard to believe. We had how many people scouring the forests of North Carolina for that abortion protestor for a year and a half and never found him... and that's in our own country.
Anyone have a translated transcript of the tape yet? I find it almost funny that Bin Laden would threaten us via a state by state result of the election.

OBL: Your security is not in the hands of Kerry or Bush or Al Qaeda. Your security is in your hands. Each state that doenst mess with our security has automatically secured their security.
Evidently he doesn't know how our country works - unless he's trying to get Senators not to vote to go to war.

For those of you unfamilier with OBL's "doctrine" and the reasons behind the attacks on the US, the link below is to his "letter to the American people" where he outlines why the attack was carried out, and, in his words, also outlines the neccesary steps that WE need to do to avoid further attacks.

This is a translation issue.
If you listen to it in Arabic, Osama refers to entire countries not to states.
