What skills training qualifies one for semi dux and such, is it really worth it over the spell ranks, and what does it actually do...?

Armor, CM, shield use, TWC, and weapon skills also help

but i would imagine you know building up the spell ranks and such will add to your defense, i don't completly understand redux therefor i'm TRYING to find out a bit more on it

If you're a Ranger, don't train for redux. It will probably take you till lvl 50 to get around 25%, maybe 30%, and you're giving up a lot of secondary skills to do it.

at 38 i have around 12% redux and im fully trained for archery and voln fu. I have full hiding and survival. The only thing i wish i had was spirit mana control, but that is only because alot of my friends play clerics and/or sorcerers where it would be nice if i could send some mana mid hunt and keep it going.

Stunseed has about 25% if i remember correctly. but he is trained for sword and shield so has more physical skills than i do. Personally I love my redux. My DS is around 270 in offensive self spelled so if i get hit its normally not too bad after the redux.

How can you tell how much redux you have? I'm in my 30's (but a rogue) and think I SHOULD have redux, but dont really notice anything. I'm also wearing shitty double leathers :weird:

I can calculate your redux from it.

By seeing the damage done compared to the endroll you can figure out how much redux you have. Thats if you know what type of weapon is hitting you and what type of armor you have on. You compare the 'textbook' version and the version that you really got and you can end up with a percentage of difference that is your redux.

It's a bit more complex than the difference in percentages.

In fact, there's no subtraction when comparing. Take the two DFs, divide the actual by the assumed. That's how much damage was actually done. Subtracting 1 will give you the percentage of redux as a negative number, as that is how much damage was not done that should have been.

B/(A-100)/C-1

A = endroll
B = raw damage
C = DF

That's how it is in my calculator.

While in theory Edaarin is correct, I've always gone against the normal.

I haven't had a Ranger yet who isn't going to get Redux. Stunseed is NOT the normal, in any way, shape or form. However, I do quite well on my current training plan, and 1/2 of people don't know what the hell profession Stun is until I bust out Wall of Thorns or Camoflauge.

Anyway...the only thing I know about redux is what simu has to say on it ingame. Type DF redux help and it gives you a speel.

Every weapon has a DF against each type of armor. This number is then applied to the endroll of each swing. If you have redux then it will lower the DF of the given weapon/armor combination which reduces the amount of damage done with the endroll. I cant think of how else to explain it, someone else fill in my blanks?

Because at the time he couldn't answer the question because she didn't give him the details? Vague questions like are spells better than redux are really unanswerable. He did share information once people started getting more specific.

I guess I am a bit cranky today. I know myself the question was vague...I just don't understand why half of Bob's posts contain the word stupid..you're stupid..that's stupid...how stupid.
