View Full Version : Perfect race/stats?

Alright, my friend asked me to help her out. She's making two characters on two new accounts, and one of them is a paladin. She wishes to utilize the giftbox command with a race combo that is the 'best' of paladin. A fee will be paid by her to whosoever provides the first info to this post, through PM to this member name, or to Whisper on AIM or Whisper@aol.com, to her satisfaction.

Mind you, this has zero to do with me, and I have no clue who will read this. She just is at my house right now so I'm posting for her.

In no order, she wants a paladin with preferably

1) no weapon restrictions. Like a paladin that can swing polearms at the best RT. Apparently big races cant do this I think? Further information is appreciated.

2) max stats. preferably 8/10 or 9/10 perfect. I myself thought only 9/10 was possible best for paladins, but I don't know. is the stat calculator still accurate? Further assistance on the stat maxing is appreciated.

3) no build restriction. She wants a paladin that can swing any weapon type, long as she's willing to dump 8m for a fixskill.

4) Anything else that would be restrictive to selecting a paladin of max stat/growth potential.

Again, thank you for reading. Any help is thoroughly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I would select a half-elf for the race, they make a good compromise for weapon speed while not killing yourself like a smaller race. The stat calculator is accurate. With a half-elf you can do any build.

This notion has been proposed through IM to her, although the rebuttal question was not answered, so it will be posed here. Half-Krolvins can get 9/10 stats. While I assume half-elves can only get 8. Can half-krolvins use polearms as functionally well as elves/half-elves? I am presuming, of course, that polearms are the most taxing of weapon builds, of course. If I am wrong, please let me know. Thank you for your help so far Drew.

Half-krol will be able to swing harder(maximized AS assuming no enchancives) but will also be slower (assuming no enchancives) because of their lower DEX/AGI mods that affect big weapon swing times.

You can fix most things with enchancives if you're willing to shell out the coins and deal with the upkeep. Otherwise you want to pick the base that lets you minimize the part you find to be a hassle.

Yes, Polearms for paladins are probably the most costly build. I would ask on the officials for advice from Menos as he is the consumate expert on pole arm paladins.

my new elf paladin is great. swing lances at max speed at level 57. since the giftbox item gives + to STR and WIS, it bolsters teh weaker STR of the elf races. Perfect gift for them.

I second elf or half-elf

Dwarf.

Best TD bonuses. Swings fast. Who cares about ambushing as a paladin?

One of the best spirit regens, and my stats at 52:

Strength (STR): 100 (35) ... 113 (41)
Constitution (CON): 69 (24) ... 77 (28)
Dexterity (DEX): 80 (15) ... 80 (15)
Agility (AGI): 98 (19) ... 98 (19)
Discipline (DIS): 68 (19) ... 68 (19)
Aura (AUR): 97 (13) ... 97 (13)
Logic (LOG): 97 (28) ... 97 (28)
Intuition (INT): 96 (23) ... 96 (23)
Wisdom (WIS): 99 (24) ... 112 (31)
Influence (INF): 53 (-9) ... 53 (-9)
Mana: 156 Silver: 5190

Forgot what they'll be at 100 but I'm pretty sure they're damn near all 100s, except for influence.

What is intuition to a paladin? She has received info that she's looking over that shows an elf paladin at 9/10, with Intuition at 74. Thoughts?

He never capped as a polearm paladin. He converted to it.

Stats at level 100 really aren't that big a deal, for four reasons:
1. Your friend almost certainly will never get there, and even if she does it won't be for years.
2. So long as you aren't putting anything at 20, the differences are not really tangible.
3. Enhancives are extremely common.
4. In the event that your friend does reach level 100 and feels very uncomfortable with her gameplay experience as regards stats, she will have more than enough resources to address it with a fixstat.

Also worth remembering is that futzing around with a 20 AS gap and 2 extra seconds of swing RT makes the early levels that much more excruciating.

I've always been of the thought to put your stats for max TPs and ease

Level 0 Stats for Human Ranger

Strength (STR): 85
Constitution (CON): 60
Dexterity (DEX): 93
Agility (AGI): 91
Discipline (DIS): 52
Aura (AUR): 40
Logic (LOG): 66
Intuition (INT): 95
Wisdom (WIS): 58
Influence (INF): 20

For me the ease of hunting at younger levels and having more TP flexibility makes up for losing a stat point here or there at cap (and if I'm really bugged I can just get a fixskill).

Her early levels aren't a problem. I bought a capped cleric for her to tag her along. She's got 6months of GoA on the account and that'll put her in her 40s or higher if she shoves it. That'll cover her defense and annoying AS for fighting above her levels with growth inhibiting her.

So Drew, is Intuition worthless to a paladin as well?

yabump. Intuition worthless fer paladins?

I like half-elves as paladins. The stat cruncher is actually incorrect on this build. At cap, you can have 9 out of 10 stats capped out.

So hmm...re-bump. Intuition..worthless for paladins? yes? no?

It's not a stat I would consider important.

Intuition helps with trading? I thought that was influence?

You do know all that shit is explained on krakii and play.net right?

Drew

Yes intuition is one of the more worthless stats for everyone but rangers who have it as a primary for no good reason.

Reading is hard.
Intuition is still worthless for paladins, but it can cap at level 100. Influence is what I was thinking of, and was the one stat I do not have capped.

I thought intuition dealt with the EBP system?

If so, how can this not be an important stat?

Drew
03-29-2010, 02:08 AM
It does deal with evade but you might be talking about a 1-2% difference in evade skills. Is that really important to you? Do you want to count on evading something? Do paladins even train in that much dodge?

I have it trained at either 1x or a little less I think, and do just fine.

As a THW user I 1.5x in dodge and 1.5x in cman so..

Yeah. It would be nice to know how much it affects it.

Drew
03-29-2010, 02:50 AM
It would be, but even if it was 5% difference between 50 and 100 it still would be a crappy stat.

I think you'd get better results with 1x dodge and 2x CM.

Well, thats what I was at first. You have to remember all the cm bonus's from wspec1 and from 1611. The AS bonus is uncapped but the CM bonus isn't. And at 52 my DS is kinda low..

Yeah, disregard what I said, I completely forgot about that. I remember I dropped from 2x to 1.5 and got a ton of TPs. Still slightly under 1x in dodge.

My paladin has 0 ranks in Dodge.

I'd go for a half-elf, and have all but Influence be 100's at cap.

I'm a half elf paladin and started with the following stats at level 0.

STR P 43
CON 62
DEX 70
AGL 70
DIS 68
AUR 82
LOG 88
INT 82
WIS S,M 65
INF 30

At level 100, here's what my stats will be.

STR P 100
CON 100
DEX 100
AGL 100
DIS 100
AUR 100
LOG 100
INT 100
WIS S,M 100
INF 80

I'm pretty sure that paladins don't use influence for anything at all. Intuition on the other hand, affects your ability to block, dodge, and parry avoid some combat manuevers.

As far as skills it's up to you. I'm about as standard as they come. Here's what I look like at level 37.

Armor Use 57 (1.5X) 3 3 0 1.5x
Shield Use 76 (2.0X) 2 3 0 2x
Edged Weapons 76 (2.0X) 2 3 1 2x
Combat Maneuvers 38 (1.0X) 2 5 4 1x
Physical Fitness 40 (1.1X) 2 3 0 1.06x
Dodging 38 (1.0X) 2 5 3 1x
Climbing 12 (0.3X) 2 3 0 .33x
Swimming 9 (0.2X) 2 2 0 .24x
Perception 9 (0.2X) 2 0 3 .24x
First Aid 38 (1.0X) 2 1 1 1x
Survival 9 (0.2X) 2 2 2 .24x
Magic Item Use 5 (0.1X) 1 0 6 5
Harness Power 38 (1.0X) 2 0 5 1.01x
Spirit Mana Control 1 0 6
Spell Research 36 (0.9X) 2 0 27
Minor Spirit 3 (0.1X) 2 0 27 3
Paladin 33 (0.9X) 33
Spiritual Lore 25 (0.7X) 2 0 7
Religion 25 (0.7X) 25

With 1.5x armor I'll have all of the paladin spell hinderance, roundtime, and action penalty trained away for full plate armor. Trying to train away the minor spiritual spell hinderance is a huge waste of TPs in my opinion. Get the armored fluidity specialization to help with spell hinderance. You'll be able to get 4 ranks with 150 ranks in armor training.

I have 25 ranks of religion lore because I like to use divine strike in combat. I think it helps a great deal. Others may disagree.

I have 5 ranks in magical item use so I can use some basic imbeddables. Thurfel's ward, prayer of protection, etc. This is good enough for some low level spells.

I'm 1x specced in dodge because this gives me additional DS and not just a better chance to evade. Using a medium shield I think I'm getting an additional 16 DS from 1x dodge. 16 DS is a big deal to me and this will continue to grow as I level up. Also, it helps you to dodge manuever attacks which I also appreciate. Opinions will vary as always.

I play on the platinum server so you have to be very self-sufficient. My character is geared towards survivability with what he has available to him. If you can get your hands on defensive bonus items or have access to constant spells to help you hunt you have more leeway to experiment. By 43 I'll be able to raise 100% every time. This is a big deal to me in platinum because sometimes there are no clerics on at all.
