View Full Version : What hits harder?

Just got a weapon question for you hard-core number crunchers. All other things equal, what would be a more damaging weapon: a 7x very heavily crit weighted falchion or a 4x exceptionally weighted broadsword?

Falchion probably.

Not sure how the weapon adjective eventually adds to criticals, but the 3x difference and the DF factors alone should easily make the fachion the better choice for many cases.
For instance a +17 endroll (3x, +2 AvD) will give you at least 1 additional crit rank as compared to the broadsword. To truely know you would have to know how the adjective crit ranks add to the final hit.

What do you mean by adjective crit ranks? The very heavy v. exceptional? I never understood how that worked, if one extra "notch" of crit weighting meant one more crit rank, or whether there was a numeric range into which each adjective falls. I tent to think its the latter, as I see some sites refer to weighted weapons as having numeric levels (Phemos item guide being one).

I'm so sick of knowing. Someone else do it plz.

Lightly 1-2
Fairly 3-4
Somewhat 5-6
Decent 7-8
Heavy 9-11
Very Heavy 12-14
Exceptional 15-19
Masterful 20-24
Incredible 25+

Half of the amount is added to the damage for crit weighting, then crit is factored in. With random crits, though, you can get a 5 crit rank on a +249823749237 endroll with the falchion and a 9 crit rank with a +150 endroll with the broadsword.

The broadsword hits harder on plate for sure.

Depending on the exact amount of weighting (number), the broadsword could be better against skin/scale sometimes. Against leather and chain, it's got no chance. You should probably just give them both to me and then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Well, here's some more info. I can't afford to keep both, and there is about a 10 mil price differential between the broad and the fal (fal > broad). My question now is: are the advantages of the fal over the broad worth the difference in price?

10mil > anything.

If it's a vultite fish spine sword you're thinking of buying...

Run. Run far away. Run far, far, away. It took me months to sell that piece of shit.

How much did you sell it for?

I think I sold it to a friend for 15m as a favor.

Said friend later turned around and resold it the next week for 18m.

You sound kinda bitter about that...

Anyhow, I was lookin to keep the broad as a long-term weapon.

I've seen numerous people selling that fish spine, and it always seems to take them forever to sell it.

What exactly is the problem?

<<Anyhow, I was lookin to keep the broad as a long-term>>

I can't be the only one that laughed at that.

I always thought there were 3-4 4x ones in existence, and one 8x one.

theres 2 4x and one 8x, and people always buy that one thats always for sale thinking wow this is awesome, then they hit something that punctures. Then go buy a fel hafter.

I've sold that fishspine 3 times, 20m each time and each time I bought it back the owner was happy to sell it for 14-16m and lose coin doing so

Find one of the 2 4x exceptional crit handaxes, I sold those too, for exactly the same price too
