Isn't this the company that halved their developers like a year ago, then bought a new facility? LOL.

Started to build a new facility then halved their dev staff, then didn't move into their new facility.

This will be the first company to drop health insurance benefits in lieu of paying the $2000 per employee fine.

These jobs are also in D.C., not St. Louis.

Interesting how the positions are in the DC area. I know they're incorporated in Maryland but I thought all the actual employees were in the STL area. Maybe they think there's a better talent base for coders here in DC.

I think that's strange because although there might be a larger supply of qualified engineers in D.C., there is also much larger demand for software engineers in the D.C. area and also a significantly higher cost of living in Maryland/NOVA.

I'm surprised more game dev companies aren't opening studios in Georgia, Louisiana or Florida, given the incredible incentives that are in place for developers in those states. But I'm sure DC is cheap :)

LOLz. Relocation compensation for the DC area. I repeat I'm amazed they're still in business.

They recently relocated to -somewhere-. I remember because on their twitter posts they were talking about when the servers were loaded up in the cars and then the subsequent problems with their ISP. That wasn't to the new building they were bragging about last year?

Nope. They moved the servers to a new datacenter (rather than the closet at the Arby's down the road). The employees are still sitting in the tiny building.

Although I suppose it has quite a bit more elbow room with all the layoffs.

Are you serious? The facility they had on the live web cam?

Ever notice that webcam came down pretty quick sometime after that? The whole site was pulled and it faded quietly into the sunset.
It wasn't because they moved into the building... If they had, wouldn't there have been a bit to-do about it? just like the datacenter move?

Most companies don't put out press releases about failures. Simu is no exception.

They've made quite a bit of money already off of the hero engine, only makes sense for them to hire more people to work on it.
