Gemcutter patterns from the Dhu

Paying VERY well for any of these gemcutter patterns from the Dhu Gillywack or any rare flower gemcutter patterns:

a book-shaped dull brown pattern
a butterfly-cut rainbow-hued pattern
a shell-shaped white gold pattern

Whats the deal with these gem cutters?

I always see the patterns, never see the cutters, and have absolutely no clue why you would want to cut a gem with the pattern.

The cutters were sold off and on, most recently off the shelf at a travelling merchant.

As for "why", here's a few reasons:
- cobbling
- warrior sheaths
- identifying imbedded/blessed/chrism gems
