I'd be a good defense attorney for the trucker because there are some pretty obvious things that this article didn't cover:

A) Almost all Europeans drive on the wrong side of the road. With 24/7 reckless endangerment existing in these banana republics, this is the best one could expect from any instance of two or more motor vehicles occupying the same road space.

B) Almost all Europeans drive Fiats, Mini Coopers and clown cars. There's no way any sane trucker is going to be able to spot some microscopic HotWheels racecar before it's too late.

C) Crackdowns on cocaine trafficking: Trucks run on two things -- 1. Gas 2. A trucker. Truckers can't rely on gas alone to power their large vehicles, so they use cocaine. Illegal drugs give truckers the edge and superpowers they need to detect a pothole in the road 300 exits ahead of their current location.
