x5 nothing else....whats this worth and would it be worth more to have it enchant to x7 and then sell or keep for the just in case value?
GBB
There might be a deduction for the color, but in general it should be worth maybe 4m
Golvern has dropped a bit in price though because of the treasure system releases such as this.

5x golvern star? 4m? If this is the case I'll sell you all the golvern pieces that I have.
In reality golvern sells for about 1-1.5m on good weapon bases.

Sounds about right for an non-player forged golvern weapon. A 5x greatsword just sold for 1.5m on the officials.

Maybe I should just ask you and not ask on the boards so much.

4m would be the high end.
You could get it if you waited long enough for someone who specifically wants it. I sold 75 pounds of golvern at 1m a pound that way.

Golvern slabs are a different story. I have about 12 golvern weapons I have found over the past few months. They are fairly common now.
yes, which is why I reduced it..
and golvern slabs have also dropped in price.
the question is what is your method of selling?
Do you put it up on the forums and wish to sell it in the next week? Or will you toss it in a shop and sell it sometime in the next year?
The former, you may get the 1m, the latter, you could get up to 4m.
You just need to wait for a very specific buyer.
Assuming of course there is not another golvern star priced less in the shop system.
Couldn't you get a 5x swc golvern star for less than 4m? or am I just behind on that pricing info.

Do yall think the fact that the plan to allow the melting down of weapons will increase or decrease the price of these types of weapons?
I know I know smelting and mining will come along sometime after never and monks, but...lets say it was eventually going to happen.

Due to the abundance of golvern items being found I would say smelting would decrease the value.
Lets count that chicken when it hatches. Chances are, it won't be for years.
Also, very little golvern went out at the last EG. Thus the availability of it for custom projects is probably less than you might think.

If you want a forged golvern weapon, all you need is the coins for it, there is hardly any shortage..

There are golvern forged lance in mule for 1m each.

When someone finances many attempts to make a perfect the items end up cheaper because they've already been paid for once. So others looking for that specific weapon type luck out.
But by all means, sell your stuff for less. I prefer to make more profit. Unlike real life in Gemstone I don't have to worry about warehouse space or inventory turnover. A line of text stores as well as twenty such, an item can be held until a willing buyer is found. Rules of Acquistion #234

Translation: Everyone agrees that I am wrong, but instead of admitting it, I make up some rule so that I can be super 1337 in my own head while coming across like a complete conceited fuck.
That is what really grinds my gears!
Why are you such a dick?
First you get all prissy on me because I didn't want to spend 150m on your friend's DB item. Even going so far as to suggest I just couldn't afford it, which is stupid, considering, I'm wealthy, in game and out. I just didn't want to overpay for a cloak worn DB when I already have one and they don't stack and even if they did stack you only have one cloak slot.
Now you're just being a dick because I like to sell things for a higher price? What are my selling practices to you? Hmm? It is not as if I keep sending you private thoughts over psinet begging you to buy my golvern item for 4m after you've clearly said you're not interested. I'm not doing that.
I've sold nearly 100 million silvers worth of golvern items, I'll keep with the system that works for me. Galen asked opinions, I gave mine. I'm sorry you disagree with it but you're more than welcome not to purchase from me. The fact that my appraisal differs from yours should not be taken as a personal slight. No one is out to get you. These disagreements are not personal attacks.
I even conceded like 5 posts ago that if you were going for a quick sale my price is probably not appropriate, I prefer a longer sale and a higher price. Perhaps you missed my attempt at a compromise? Or is there no room for compromise?
You do, however, seem to take merchanting rather personally. I've dealt a lot with Tsin in the past and he, knowing the size of my checkbook, would always hit me up to buy this or that when he got it. I told him no most of the time and he never reacted the prissy way you did when I poo poo'd your DB offer. And this was Tsin, so yes, you're worse than him.
By the way, Douche, has an "o" in it.
Need some cheese with that whine Inspire?
I didn't know I inspired such attention in people such as yourself where you'd post one thing then go back and edit it and erase it and post something else.
What happened? Did you post it, and then stand up from the desk and almost make it out of the room before thinking to yourself "No, THIS time I will really tell him how he makes me feel!." So you come back and... call me a drama queen? I swoon.

I was attempting to be nice. You should try it sometime, you might actually make a friend.

Oh shit I'm about to post something pro-V... aggggh stop me.
So a few weeks back I wanted some 7x brig to pad via PPs. I posted up here and the officials. No bites for weeks. I don't want to wait--I want that shit NOW. After a good three weeks Virilneus is the only one with a set--2 resistances and 1 vulnerability and max lightened, 13m. This is 7m more than the last set of 7x brig sold on the PC (6m auction for some altered dwarven something or other). Is the lightening and mod resist to puncture worth 7m? Not sure, but he got his 13m cause he waited until he found someone to pay it. I thought it was pretty smart.
Of course then I got whacked with a 1000 PP surcharge because of the resistances and now I'm waiting another 5 months to pad.

PS: one of these people IS Virilneus. Guess which one (HINT: mexican)
Oh ya, they recently added resistance surchages didn't they? Like a couple months ago.
It is hard to price resistance, it was once more common, but they've tightened the strings on it as they did with heavily scripted items.
Lightening though I figure is worth around 1m per round. If you're ever at a lightener and get picked you can usually sell your spot for about 1m. There would of course be diminishing returns though.
And yup, I sold three sets of that armor for 13m each time. Had a lot of other offers, but 13m was my price, and I got it all three times.

I'm glad I grabbed it. There have been about 3 new posts of people looking for 7x brig in the last three weeks. I was about to put down a payment on freaking wizard enchanting which was a definite last resort.
Had to alter it out of that dead Kiramon though.
