So I rolled up a rogue...to primarily steal and to shoot arrows from the shadows.

My question is, is it wise for me to train in ambush to be more sucessful at shooting from the shadows without being seen? Does ambush have any effect on it at all?

Ambush also has a nice effect on your AS, along with perception.

So all ambush would do is aid me in my AS? Has nothing to do with being able to sucessfully hit my target? And don't you have to have like 40 ranks before you even start to get that AS boost?

Ambush + perception help your aiming (IE, targetting) in hiding.

In the open, perception solely determines your aiming.

Perception is the key factor to aiming from the open. Perception and Ambush combined are the keys to shooting from the shadows. The bonus for training in ambush and perception is ((ambush ranks>40)+(perception ranks>40))/4

I wouldn't tempt him. Don't be too surprised when he takes you up on the offer.
