My poppa had a stroke. Pray, wish, ASSIST, whatever you care to do- please keep him in your thoughts. Hopefully a group of people all hoping for his recovery will spin the universe a little in his favor. Plus, sympathy helps me feel better. :-(

They have computers in the family lounge. I'll be around a little.

Thanks, peoples.

I hope that things go well for him and you. I've never felt more helpless than the Thanksgiving week my mother had her heart attacks. I hope he is surrounded by people who care like you.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. He's doing a bit better now. It's been a rough couple of days. Thankfully, we have some awesome friends who've filled our fridge and counter space with food and stuff to help us through.

For anyone who cares: he had a thalamic hemorrhage with ventricular extension. He's still on the ventilator, but it's in CPAP mode rather than actually breathing for him. He should be extubated tomorrow morning, if all goes to plan. He seems pretty much his usual self, as far as personality goes. It's gonna be a tough road, though, as it doesn't seem that he's been able to move his right side much, if at all. Luckily, he's a southpaw, and will still be able to do at least some of the things he loves (he's a wicked artist). He gave a yawn today that seemed to involve muscles on both sides of his face, which is a good sign. We'll be able to know more after we pull him off the ventilator and he can talk to us. Also, we were able to get one of his ventricular drains removed, leaving only one hole in his head left to plug up once everything drains out. He was given a trial procedure injecting tPA directly into the ventrics. Which did a great job busting up any clotted blood that was hanging out in there.

Thanks again, everyone. The wishes of hope mean quite a bit to me.
