View Full Version : GLD ABANDON worth it?
At level 25, I just hit the wall.
You are a member of the Warrior Guild.
You are current with your dues and must check in again sometime in the next 88 days.
You currently have 84 ranks out of a possible 84 for your training.
You are a Master of Berserk.
You have 15 ranks in the Warrior Tricks skill.
You are not currently training in this skill.
You have 9 ranks in the Batter Barriers skill.
You need 56 training points to earn your next rank.
The Training Administrator told you to go break down some sheet metal to earn the guild some money.
You will need to do 90 hit points of damage for each repetition.
You have 6 repetitions remaining to complete this task.
Is it worth using my GLD ABANDON to dump the batter ranks into WTRICKS? My primary concern is getting some use out of FEINT as soon as possible; right now it's useless to me.

I think I am the only one who has used it in awhile, because when I posted on the officials, no one had an idea if or how it worked.
Basically when you start, it tells you your ranks in each skill and you can adjust each downwards by any increment, all the way down to zero. It asks you to confirm each step, and when your done, re-displays the final output and you need to confirm again. Its stormfront only btw.
I did it because my hurled warrior was a master of tricks and had a bunch of everything else including 20 ranks of batter, and i was close to mastering berserk when I hit the wall. So I abandoned it all except tricks and berserk, was able to finish berserk and now working on tackle and got about 40 ranks to play with and at the time it takes to gain tackle ranks due to lack of people at the guild, i'll gain levels in time to master that at some point.
So yah, worth it if it meets your goals for the PC.

Thanks, Paul.
I've seen the posts you made on the officials, actually, and I'm pretty cool with the process. It's just the "You may do this ONE TIME ONLY EVER" bit that I'm uncertain about. If I could do this whenever, I'd have no problem at all, but it seems like this function was put in to address drastic changes in the guild skills, sort of the way they give out a FIXSKILLS if something crazy happens to affect the viability of training plans.
In short, if I only get to use GLD ABANDON once, ever, is this worth blowing it on?
Or is that "one time" thing BS?
This command allows you to voluntarily abandon guild ranks that have already learned. The purpose of this is to allow those who are at their rank cap to adjust their guild training in response to the significant changes that have occured within the guild system.
...
It is important to note that this is a one-time only option. That is, you can only choose which ranks you wish to abandon once. You cannot save ranks for a second abandonment. Any and all ranks you choose to abandon are gone until you choose to relearn them again through the normal guild training process. There are no second chances, so it is HIGHLY advisable that your decision to use this option be well thought out in advance.

It is one time only, was implemented after widescale revisions to guild skills, and will work in Wizard.
I wouldn't use it in this case. You're only going to get 9 more ranks of Tricks, which isn't going to make an enormous difference in feinting skill.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks!

Is there a limit to the amount of ranks you can have total for guild skills? Is it impossible to master all of them skill? I figure it is possible...but this post read a little funny to me.

There is a ranks/level cap, so this is my warrior (level 41)
You are Guild Master of the Warrior Guild.
You currently have 153 ranks out of a possible 169 for your training.
So if I decided to really work at tackle and got 16 ranks before I leveled, I'd be at 'the wall' and would need to level to get more ranks to train in.
169/41 = 4.xxx ranks/level.
But once your of a certain level, you can max out all the guild skills.

It's not based on your (GS4) level, but rather what GS3 level you would be at with your current experience. So it is similar to level based, but not linear from a GS4 level perspective. Anyway, you can max out all your skills at level 67 I believe.

And yes, you can master all of the skills if you are high enough level.

On a side note, I had this same issue to at one point, but with berserk. My 15 ranks of berserk were next to useless for breaking stuns, webs, etc.. so I picked up 4 ranks of Berserk through combat maneuvers until I hit 40 ranks of berserk a number of levels later, and then unlearned them.
So there's another thought to fix the situation for the time being - get a few ranks of cman feint and unlearn them later. It'll take up a few cman points, but feint is one of the most crucial maneuvers.

Yeah, once you hit the mid-20s, you get another available guild rank every 12.5k experience.

You can master all six skills at level 69, just short of 70 now. I used GLD ABANDON after the GS4 conversion to dump some nonsensical skills in favor of more Tricks and Disarm. Forget how it works, though.
For max ranks at level/exp, see: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showpost.php?p=626561&postcount=9

I'm curious---
Since it is so bloody hard for to learn warcries in GS shattered, and considering alread have a very high infleunce (i trained to dthem) do you know if its possible IF you already have alot of possible ranks available to convert one mastered skill (maybe more) into warcries to master it? Is this possible? Or do you have to be at cap for your guild skills?
thanks
