View Full Version : Neck protection

Hi everyone,
My friend took me to OTF a little while ago and told me gremlocks like to garrote you. I don't like that idea very much--and gremlocks are most decidedly NOT furry little creatures with a monstrous aversion to dihydronated oxygen. I was very mistaken in this regard and I would like to formally apologize to my guide/friend for constantly shouting out "come here mogwai, I want to hug you."
She told me you can get some neck protection (I'm a wizard). Hers was a gorget and it looked both stunning and functional.
Does anyone have anything that I can wear so the gremlocks will have a harder time turning my neck into something akin to the scene in Robocop where That 70s Show dad has his larynx removed?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE, happy people.

There are a few experts on this very subject. Seek out RZA, GZA, ODB, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, or U-God and any of them should be able to help you out. Or...
...you could just watch this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GDPZpRmTg0)
There are only one or two items in game that actually give garrote protection, any generic gorget will not do it, and in fact, any set of armor technically is already covering your neck.
If your friend really has one of the few items, tell her to contact me, I wish to buy it.
Otherwise... disable the gremlocks as soon as you see them, train more in cm, physical fitness, and get 618 cast on you before hunting.

any slash protecting armor that covers neck protects from garrote. Keep trolling though Virilneus, you do such a damn good job at it.

This didn't get the love it deserves. I laughed. A lot. Well done.
I had some slash protected and some crit padded neck gear and when I asked around about this I heard more than once that the gremlock garrote doesn't follow the same rules as a player character garrote. To be honest I didn't feel like dealing with the likely deaths involved in testing so I didn't.
What I can tell you is to keep 540 running and to 519 any gremlocks immediately. If they don't die they'll roll around burning.
After gremlocks you want to disable the beings. Gnarled beings do some kind of jump kick maneuver and one or more of the various beings can cast major e-wave.
Edit: Also gremlocks are the best things to mana leech in there, followed by gnarled beings.

This.
It is not the CMAN that they do.

It might not be the same CMAN but slash protection still protects against it. Going in there with the invar greaves and gorget that protect against slash will keep you alive a good bit longer.
