View Full Version : How does Fixstat work?

Hello, I recently returned to GS and have been toying around with my Wizard. I wanted to get my hands on a fixstat potion and redo some of the stats but I'm not exactly sure how it works. My main question is, if I had stats cap at 100 a while back (My character was not created with the intent of capping stats so some of them were way too high to begin) and I fixstat those back down, does it return to me the points that it went over 100 (even though it doesnt show)?

I haven't used one myself, but I'd guess that it uses the same game mechanics as the fixstat that's available during the first 30 days of a new character. When using that fixstat, any increases based on level gains are not shown, and you're just adjusting your base stats. After you finish the fixstat, the level stat gains are figured in.

Okay, thanks.

I think you are asking if your TPs will be affected. Most definitely. If you had a lot of prime stats cap out early on, you'll lose a good bit of TPs when you fixstat. You should use Tsoran's spread sheet. It will provide you some insight as to what you'll gain/lose.

No the TP's aren't my concern it's more like when I built the character I had a bunch of stuff already high at 90's and 100 leaving things like my STR at 50. So when I leveled I should have gained points in say logic or aura it was already capped. I want to know if when I reallocate the stats if I will get those lost ability points back or if they are gone forever.

Assuming it works just like the fixstat available for the first 30 days, yes you will get those points back.

I've used a fixstat. It certainly changed my TPs, to the tune of about -200 overall, at cap. It was the best investment I ever made for Gibreficul's character.

They're expensive though, so good luck with that.

I'm wondering how they work functionally. Do you DRINK them and then in the inn there's the option to fix stat??

Same with fixskills. Does it just renew your fixskills verb or do you have to set your goals then drink it?

I mean, could you blow it and waste the thing? That would suck.

Yah. Drink it, check in, realloc option appears.

Fixstat gives ya a fixskill too, so remember ta realloc yer skills as well.

By itself, fer fixskills ya need to adjust yer skills where ya want 'em, then drink a fixskill potion.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to be clear before I used my fixstat.

After I work with the Tsoran spreadsheet, I need to first adjust my training to correct for TP shifts, then drink the potion, then check in, then reallocate stats, right? Or does the fixskill that comes with the fixstat just renew my annual fixskill, and I can fixskill after I change my stats?

Thanks.

What I did was set all my skills to zero since I didn't know what it would yank from me. Drank the potion, fixed my stats which adjusted my skill points, trained, and then fixskilled.

Buck's right. The only thing I'll add is that you have to make sure you unlearn all your cmans and shieldmans. I've learned this the hard way more than once.

Yeah that is a good point that I forgot. With anyone trained in shield/CM/armor I always fixskill to zero skills and then re-train. I have only done a fixstat on a caster.

I just fixstated last week. If you currently have a fixskills use it setting all your skills to zero. You will get a free fixskills when you fixstat so that way you'll still have one in reserve since you can't stack them. Unlearn all your cmans and stuff then drink the potion and check into the inn. It will give you an extra number option to reallocate your stats. I used the random stat generator to find stats for growth at 100. I also saved up 200 tps because I knew that I was so messed up that I would lose a lot. Boy did I ever lose a lot of mental TPs but ended up with more physical TPs.

The worst part of fixstating is having to use the + - for your stats and skills at the Inn. There is an option to set your stats at zero which you should do because it will automatically give you some funky numbers in each of your stat placement with no available points. If you set them to zero then you can just + number for each catagory. It is easier to just +50 armor use or whatever in the Inn instead of clicking the + button 50 times if you goal outside of the Inn.

Best thing I ever did was saving those bps for a fixstat.

If you are postcap it isn't going to hurt your nearly as much if you are like level 50.

Thanks for the help. The character I'm doing this on is a sorcerer I started many years ago. I lost the log in info when I quit GS for those years, but ran across it while cleaning out my office a couple of months ago.

The mistake I made was I planned his stats for cap from level 0, so a lot of his stats are way too low right now at level 32. I think I remember reading that it's a good idea to plan max stats for something like level 50 or 60 with the intent of fixstating again for cap...is that sound advice?

I find that works well or you could even target a set of stats per 35 levels really if you are willing to fixstat more often. The price is fairly reasonable for them.

I see, so since I'm close to 35 now, maybe I can plan for max stats at 70 then?

Right, basically what I did was 0-3X during the 30 day time period with the HOPE of hitting 35. Fixstat and aim for a time period where something major could happen. Level 70 is about where you need to decide if your goal is minotaurs to bowels or are you doing Rift/EN which might be a totally different training path and you want to adjust your stats to match. Then level 100 and then post cap.

By adjusting your stats you can do different combinations to either get more PTP/MTP and add things like high con for manuver defence for Bowels etc.

Great advice! Thanks a lot, Buckwheet.

Everyone else, too!
