Need help finding a product

So, here's the story.

Every few nights over the past month, at my girlfriend's apartment, very late at night/early morning, somebody in her building has been pounding on her door and then running away. They do it every 10 minutes for around 3 hours straight. Whenever she goes to look out the peephole, nobody's there. Needless to say, this really freaks her out, and I usually end up getting called and woken up to stay on the phone with her, and I can actually hear the pounding over the phone. One night it got so bad I actually had to drive over there and stay the night.

She's called her landlord, who doesn't really do anything but apologize and says to call him when it happens again. Of course, since it usually happens after midnight, he's obviously not in his office. There's no security cameras throughout the building. My gf doesn't want to call the police.

As such, I want to rig up a cheap webcam, attached to the peephole in her door, to record the schmucks who keep doing this that we can then show the landlord. She has a Macbook, so the webcam would need to be compatible with that. But it would also need to be motion-activated, so it would only turn on and start recording if it detects motion.

Anybody know where I can find something like that? I've looked, but have had trouble finding Mac compatible cams (since most Macs have them built in already), or anything that's motion-activated. Doesn't need to be a super webcam -- the cheaper the better.

Duct tape the locking mechanism for the door so that it will remain open. That is so that the door will never fully latch closed, but you can have the door appear to be closed. When they knock, it will open. Wait next to the door with shotgun and webcam. Post to youtube and PC after turning it over to landlord and police.

I know my regular webcam has a motion sensor on it that'll take pictures whenever there's movement..

Also, there are pin hole cameras available all over the place for worrywarts and perverts...

I have done all of the suggestions listed here, except for uploading the video of the tazing for everyone to enjoy. I keep that in my private collection to enjoy.

Oh and I don't do it to people who ding-dong-ditch, just people who come along. Pizza deliverymen, the UPS guy, etc.

Even better. Load up with some rocksalt and blast it at them when the door swings in. You are protecting your property so it isn't against the law, as long as the weapon is discharged from inside your apartment.
