Since I've never actually put any enhancives on my AG badge, I don't know exactly how the system works.
I know about finding out what you can have put on it, but not about the costs. Basically, are there any? Or is the only associated cost the cost of recharging it once it runs out? I'm slowly but surely trying to make my way to a fixstats because I did a shitty job placing my stats and don't want to waste any BPs on trial and error.
The only cost is when you add charges.
You can add and remove bonuses all day as long as you're not concerned with draining all current charges.
The charges last a good while. Right now my badge has +5 CON and I think it takes 3600 BP to charge it.

So to be clear, I can have it be, say, +3 to Spell Aiming, wear it until it runs out, then swap it out to +3 to MIU, wear it until it runs out, and so on without spending any BPs? And, if that's the case, switch it back to Spell Aiming again if I feel like it?

I have come back to the game after ten years and the entire enhancive system (AG badges, weapons, items, etc) is lost on me.
Do you have to rub these things to activate them, or what? Do you gain the enhancive simply by virtue of having them on your character? What constitutes a charge?
I have about 20k AG points and haven't done anything with them because this shit confuses me.

Nooo. It won't work at all until you pay to charge her up. And every time you change the bonuses all the charges drain out.
You could have it be +3 spell aiming and not charge it...that would be free...free and pointless :P.

Welcome back Audioserf! All you have to do is wear the enhancive item and it will provide the bonus. With item on type info and skills to see your bonuses for worn items.

Thanks. And I assume that for weaponry it would be as simple as just holding the item?
And if there's no activation action required, what uses up a "charge" of the enhancive ability? Is it just one charge per x in-game minute/hour/day/etc?

Yea, I kinda figured that was too good to be true. So pick an enhancive, have it put on, then have it charged, yes? I'm starting wish I asked this sooner and took advantage of that charge for silvers thing they did again.

mm you pick an enhancive. Then you ORDER...hold badge in your right hand and pick the charge order number for a price quote.

All worn enhancives have a chance to use a charge (a chance mind you, it is alikely an open roll than needs a below 100 or above 100 result) when used with the WEAR verb and ONLY the WEAR verb (or it's equivalents). But not on remove, swap, get, etc. only on wear. sourced to I think Thandiwe or another chick GM in the EG folder awhile back.
All held enhancives are the same when used with the GET verb (or equivalents, like gird etc).
Additionally, while active, all enhancives have a chance to drain a charge approximately every 10 minutes. - sourced to Ildran when enhancives first came out.
Ergo, to maximize charges, remove when not in use.

[COLOR="DarkOrchid"]Yes, hold your weapon and it will give you the bonus if it has one. Some items have restrictions to race, society or training level. A Bard could sing to it and give you the skinny.
