Does anyone that posts here have spina bifida, curiously? Or does anyone have a sibling/son/daughter/relative with it?

I just had a question or two for those who have experience with it.

I have done some volunteer work which included some children that had spina bifida (the Myelomen....something version it was back in the Corps so it's been years). I'm by no means an expert but I did work with them and do activities and the like.

Hmm... okay. I've got a few technical questions that would be more suited towards someone that has it. Thank you, though.

How old are you, out of curiosity? Did you have hydrocephalus in your brain before/after the surgery? If so, do you have a shunt (I would assume so if you did have hydrocephalus).

Can you walk?

Which type do you have? There's three not so good types, and one asymptomatic type.

Did your mum know you had it when you were in the womb?

Hips

Is this related to your wife being preggers?

If so, tough break man.

Yes, I can walk. I am 26.

I have no idea wtf hydrocephalus (water penis???) is... so I doubt I had it. I also had a birth defect with my left leg (calf was attached to the thigh, they had to cut it away, and I have no thigh muscle in my left leg, also have very limited feeling in parts of my left leg)

I also had hernias when I was an infant, probably all unrelated.. maybe.. mother also smoked when she was preggers.

I doubt they knew when I was in womb.

The scar is right in the crack of my ass, if I was talented I would take a picture and post it, but(t) I cant see it well enough to torture you poor people with my crack.

All in all, I was in a half body cast (waist down) for my first ~16 months I believe.

Hope any of my information may be useful. If not, well, maybe I'll find a way to post an ass pic anyway.

PS. Order truffles

I don't really find anything Kuyuk said to be hilarious or sig worthy. He cracks a joke and makes light of it but it's far from being LOLtastic.

I have a friend who has it, I'll ask this stuff of her tomorrow. I only know because she's mentioned it in passing, it's not a common/forefront thing about her life.

Well she seemed pretty wtf ever about it, which I really respected. Wasn't trying to be nasty by doing it. However you Nikki, are still a heartless bitch anyways. God knows you've fucked with/laughed at people outrageous about their disabilities or them being fat or ugly or whatever you can fuck with them about. And you popping over here on this thread and being snow white for the sole purpose of getting another stab at me in is pretty shitty too, but you're a creature of habit.

I feel a lot better about all those times I cracked at you/insinuated at you being gay.

To get this back on topic, I have a cousin with spina bifida.

She is parapalegic and has been that way since birth. She has Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. The most severe form. Her spine was not fully fused when she was born and there was a hole in the middle of her back.

She does have hydrocephelus and a shunt. She turns 39 this year.

I don't know when or if my aunt knew she had it in the womb or not, I'm guessing not since she was born in the early 70's. She's pretty much exceeded all life expectancy for her condition. It's quite possible she's the oldest lived person with her condition.

Agreed. This doesn't sound like something you're just researching for shits and giggles, that sucks. Let me know if you need anything.

If by chance you're going off AFP results try & keep in mind there is an over 80% rate of false positives so wait for further testing if that's what is going on. If not, I'm sorry & echo what Anticor said.
