View Full Version : Are the olympics pink hat sports?

A sport radio guy was claiming the the entire winter olympics was a pink hat (http://pinkhatnation.blogspot.com/2008/06/top-5-pink-hat-fans-nba-basketball.html) event. Hey was claiming to speak for the entire sports nation. I only partly agree.
- The opening ceremonies, not even remotely sports related, it's pink hat.
- Nearly anything judged, I hate. Ski jumping for distance, kind of neat. Judging how pretty they look in the air, why? Figure skating, not really pink hat by the definition of pink hat. It's a sport that women like more, they don't have to put on a pink hat to enjoy it because they're already fans.
- Every human interest story aired, pink hat. I don't care how so and so is dedicating the games to his legless autistic sister who raised him when he was a small child living in the desert. These stories aren't for sports fans.
Overall though, I'd rather watch these athletes than the "big four" drama queens on E!SPN.

What irritates me is that when the olympics rolls around, everyone becomes an armchair expert on curling, figure skating, and bobsledding, despite spending the four interim years categorically ignoring such sports.

The women's hockey team was handing ass to the Chinese, a couple of them girls are fucking cute too!
Agreed, though this is my first exposure to the term "pink hat". I imagine most Saints "fans" this year are the same if you don't live in New Orleans OR, your team didn't lose to the Colts in the Superbowl a few years back.

I'm an expert on curling because I watched The Simpsons.

I watched that Chinese couple figure skate last night.
I was watching alone, so I wasn't nearly as embarrassed as I should have been. In any case, I walked away thinking that it was one of the more impressive athletic feats I have ever watched. Pink hat or not, it took a lot of skill.

Bitch I watch cool runnings once a quarter to ensure I don't lose my edge on bobsledding knowledge.

I couldn't give two shits about the olympics at all to be honest.
Except maybe Lindsey Vonn.....

I agree, especially when it comes to the Winter Olympics.
At least we have beach volleyball in the Summer Olympics.

How does one even keep their game tight on curling knowledge. I have never seen it on TV in my life outside of the context of the Winter Olympics. This is a serious post.
