I was in my cheap bookstore Yesterday and ran across this book. What struck me about it was the font for Shadow World, which looked liked the GS3 font. Lo and behold an Iron Crown Enterprise book from 1990! The book is a new book but in only an ok condition.
This book is essentially set in Elanthia (Kulthea) during the ICE age. You'll learn about the Navigators (and where those damn rings come from), have an adventure with ice age god names (Haasek) visit the Landing (Kelfour's Landing) and various other things. Lots of things make sense after reading this book.
They have 3 more I can obtain locally and I'll see if they can find others. 1 is already reserved. This leaves 2 for open bidding.
Payment via paypal.com. Reasonable offers, please.

How close is GemStone to plagerism with this book is my question?

Gemstone and ICE had an arrangement on startup which fell apart during the AOL years. Plagarism isn't a factor since both parties had a signed contract for a term.
However, once that contract ended, Simutronics had to make suttle changes to reflect that GS is not Shadow World. I would imagine there is a termination clause that says X can not sue Y over similarities.
And as far as the amazon link goes, I commend your google skills sarcastically. Now to those that do not care for a super walmartamazonmicrosoftie book, I still have 2 additional copies for sale.

No clue what you bought but I doubt it was this book. StormRiders never came out in a paperback.

Um, I did say hardcover.
And its the same book, for real and everything.
Not that it really matters.

Umm, yes, it did. This link is from Roxanne Longstreet's homepage:

I thought this was interesting though HarmNone..
"Need a copy? Unfortunately, STORMRIDERS is currently out of print ... try www.half.com and search for the title!"
So, it isn't in print anymore, even if it is available at amazon, that would make it "out of print" and eventually hard to get, right?

One day, it will probably be pretty hard to get, as are most books that go out of print. Right now, though, there are any number of copies available (hardback and paperback) if you are willing to do a bit of looking. :)
My response, however, was not to point out whether or not the book might be hard to get, now or ever. My point was that a paperback version of the book WAS printed.

LOL... you are selling the same exact book.. but because you found yours in a local bookstore.. it somehow makes it better than the one on the Amazon.com link?
Judging from the copy you scanned.. it looks like it's been beaten up.. which would make all 8 copies available on Amazon.com worth more.
Besides.. you never take a book and scan the middle like you did.. it breaks the spine of the book.. reducing it's value even more.
Gee.. what to do.. should I pay $20 for your broken copy or buy the Very good copy available on Amazon for $8.00.
Decisions, decisions...

:drools: someone loan me a copy, and not sure if i caught it right, is this a one shot book or is there a series?

It is third in a series. The series seem unrelated though. I'll have to obtain all the books to find out.
Best I can tell is there are 4 books in this series. Let me do some digging to find the names.

Ian Hammell did a Shadow World series. The books are:
Shadow World: Stormriders
Shadow World: The Burning Goddess
Shadow World: Clock Strikes Sword
Shadow World: City of Assassins
Stormriders by Ian Hammell is the only one published by Iron Crown. The others were published by ACE, with the last one published in 1995.
The only Shadow World book written by Roxanne Longstreet was the one we've been discussing previously in this thread. Hammell's books are not as good, in my opinion. :)
