So, I'm upgrading from my old 60GB, and was considering the various options available to me.

Any specific choices I should be for/against?

Any downfall to getting a slim model? Is 250GB somewhat pointless? etc.

Wait... you're upgrading your PS3 to another PS3? Is the hard drive full? You know you can swap those out pretty easily.

But sure, throw away a bunch of money for no reason, get whatever the most expensive model is.

The current is backwards compatible, which I have a $550 offer on. As I have absolutely no need for said feature, that should more or less explain it.

Indeed it does, you've found an idiot that we should all exploit for profit. Just get the cheapest one, no need to pay extra for the larger HDD, I had planned on upgrading my HDD in mine but it barely has anything on it.

Any issues with the Slim that would make me lean towards the older style?

No. The Slim actually has some advantages to the reverse compatible older one. The ability to bistream audio and use Bravia Sync (if you have a Bravia TV that works with it. Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3#Model_comparison

Just think.. in 3 short months, AestheticLife will be the 3rd best player on the PS3.

My bad.. I confused you with AestheticDeath. Two stupid people asking stupid questions about gaming.

Oh, and the names are similar.

Grabbed the 250GB, NBA2k10 (and Draft Combine), Demon's Souls, Dragon Age, a second remote, annnd a new tv to play it on! woohoo.

Already ripping doods up with my 6'7" PG.

Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), the 250GB is pretty sweet! Lol'ing at the framerate issues my Xbox buddy has with 2k10, while simultaneously having access to the best shooters on the market? Win.

So long as you don't mean MAG is one of the best shooters. I'm a ps3 purist dickhead and will only say, that game is a fucking pile of shit. Bad Company 2 is where it's at.

Add me, TreeIsLegend on PSN.
