President Bush has warned Taiwan and China not to take any unilateral steps that would change the status quo.


One thing you can say about this President. He sure is funny.

Actually.. China has said repeatedly that they will end up taking over Taiwan. As an ally of the US.. should we just let China take them over?

The U.S. is also in the tricky position of having already told Taiwan that it would "protect Taiwan from any foreign aggression."

Which I completely agree... but that policy has been in effect prior to George taking office.

Should we NOT protect our allies now?

I'm just saying, you have, on one hand, the U.S.'s biggest trading partner, who happens to be Communist, and on the other hand, a democratic nation seeking independence who you promised to protect.

Either way, it can't spell anything good for American interests.

How would you sell the war for Taiwan?

It's fucking part of China... let them have it back already. They can take Korea too while their at it.

Chiang Kai-Shek was a lunatic. Taiwan should go back to the Taiwanese, and the Nationalists should move back to China. Stupid Soong family.
