A silver-etched vultite throwing axe: 8x, permablessed and returning. Weighs 4 pounds, 85/200 str/dur.

This was my baby for years and has served me very well. It is brutally effective. I bought this as a 6x returner, and with the goal of making it able to slay demons as soon as they appear, I added two enchants and later added the permabless. Standard RT is 3 seconds, 4 seconds aimed when hurled, 5 seconds open and 6 seconds when aimed with a melee attack. The versatility of having a weapon that is effective with a ranged attack as well as a melee attack and permablessed, makes for an excellent combination, and makes this one of the best returners out there. As such, I'll only sell for a price to match its qualities.

I'll post a log below.

Here is a partial log of a scatter hunt. Note that the prime advantages of the axe, (speed and bypassing melee DS), are of great advantage in a place like the scatter where the critters are fast and often have high melee DS. Also, you get the same handaxe DF with the faster speed and DS bypass.

[The Rift, Scatter]
Petrified black trees enclose a quiet grove within a dead forest. A dry, hot breeze wends its way through the stone-like flora. Hoof prints occasionally emerge out of nothingness upon the ash-covered ground, tracks that remain only for moments before fading out of existence once again. You also see a thick membranous barrier.

Countless variety and number of tattered sock puppets have been impaled upon steel pikes planted in a burnt field. Love the idea of using both, but it's not in the cards at this time. I could keep it and in about a year I would have the training to use them both at once, but I figured I'd give someone else a shot at some fun and use the coins on something else in the meantime.

And kookie, I appreciate the bid, but you're going to have to up that number to get in the ballpark.

Consider this: a 6x blessable returning axe is worth about 60-70 mil. What then is an 8x permabless one worth?

The shield is a 5x/4x TD shield. It keeps me alive every day, and there is no way I'm giving that up. Where I'm hunting now, speed is king. I can kill easily with a 3 second shot. Two shots in however long that would be is nice, but it gives the critters time to strike back if they survive. It would be hellaciously fun though I'm sure. Another time, another place perhaps.

Bid on this one. It's one awesomely fun toy.

My personal opinion.

I think 75m is a fair price for this weapon.

Just for comparison, a 6x blessable returning axe would be worth 25-35 million.

Ormr
02-03-2010, 02:04 PM
a) How much did the permabless certificates sell for? Some were won, some were sold post-win, maybe?
b) How much do strings cost? This, though, is not directly tied to the value seeing as how there are more returners by far than there are strings
c) For said comparison, a few 4x returning handaxes have been sold and/or traded in the vicinity of 40mil or 4x bandoliers + coin.
d) If anyone has a 6x blessable returning axe for 25mil, I'm all over that. Seriously.

Buy me a few then would you please? I challenge you to go back and find a 6x returning axe of any sort, blessable or otherwise that sold in that price range.

Consider the cost to enchant it from 6x up to 8x with PPs, and then to get it permablessed. Do the math and you will get yourself into the ballpark.

02-03-2010, 02:33 PM
problem is the price of enchanting an item is generally much greater than the actual increase in value of item to said item. This is the case of your current axe. A 6x chainspear is worth roughly 60ish, always knocks down, and always flares etc. 75 mill for the 8x returner is a fair offer. A 6x sancted axe (or was it 5x, I'm too lazy to look) went for 45ish.

The problem is comparison, but I believe in relative to other values of items in this area 75-90 at the top end is a fair offer.

And there is no way in hell a 6x blessible returning axe is worth 25. If someone wants to sell one for that much, please PM me.

Archigeek
02-03-2010, 02:58 PM
The 6x sancted one was sold right after EG when no one had any coins, and was traded. Not a very good comparison, as sancted has limited appeal. The biggest "appeal" of that one was its name if you ask me. Otherwise, in my opinion sancted is more of a minus than a plus these days, as it limits who can make good use of it, and therefore lowers the price.

As for the chainspear comparision, chainspears are neat and all, but you have to throw it for one RT, then pull it as a separate action and RT, and it doesn't always stick. Fun yes, cool actions yes, as deadly? No. This weapon is optimized for universal killing of anything that crosses your path, on the ground or in the air.

Anyway, I'm listening to offers of coins. Or trades including high end full leather or db items.

At the high end, 'fair offer' doesn't really matter. What matters is what someone will pay and at what price archi will let it go. 'Making' a high end weapon in gemstone will almost always result in something worth less than the cost to make it (because otherwise anyone buying could just make it themselves), which is countered by availibility of services.

Not sure what my point is.

My point is calvin and hobbes > all.

Unless I'm remembering someone else Inspire's personal opinions on prices is always way low. I could be thinking of someone else though.

I think the market has changed considerably and I set prices to move items. I don't piss around and wait for someone to overpay so I can make a massive profit. Pick a fair price, get a happy customer, it's win win for all.

25m would be the bargain basement price, 35-45 for 6x I see fair, 75 for the 8x I see fair. More silvers were probably spent to create the item, but it wouldn't be the first time. (211 Cloak and 606 Dagger as an example.)

That about sums things up.

I know I referenced the comparision to cost in PPs etc. to build it in order to determine what the ballpark is, but keep in mind that a ballpark is a ballpark, not an exact price.

I am now foaming at the mouth at how crazy that is. That's literally the best OHE weapon in the game, isn't it?

Feras weapons..

I don't hunt OTF or get hit. Except for when I tab out when running my travel script to Nelemar and then forget I was playing. That's when I get hit. :) :) :) :)

CAN IT KILL A CLOUD?!?!?!

Bud, your new avatar is hilarious. I know a guy at my office that looks like that except he hasn't dyed his hair black (laughing hard)

a) How much did the permabless certificates sell for? Some were won, some were sold post-win, maybe?
b) How much do strings cost? This, though, is not directly tied to the value seeing as how there are more returners by far than there are strings
c) For said comparison, a few 4x returning handaxes have been sold and/or traded in the vicinity of 40mil or 4x bandoliers + coin.
d) If anyone has a 6x blessable returning axe for 25mil, I'm all over that. Seriously.

I sold a 6x returning sanctified axe (the dwarven longbow) for about 55 in trade. Some people would, indeed, pay more for a blessable axe.

Bump. Still listening to offers of coins, or trades involving high end leathers or db items. The aniversary is coming up. Need a gift for the missus.

Considering a trade deal, but would prefer an offer that includes more or all coins, so still listening.

I own this again, and will either train for twc or sell it for the right price. Listening to offers of both trade or silvers.

...and it's sold again. Hope the new owner enjoys using it, especially since they're using demons in the quest going on in Solhaven right now. Should be fun.
