The kittens have become obsessed with "da bird", which is nothing more than 2 feathers on a string. One evening we were playing with them and... Well a video is worth a thousand words.

rofl that orange kitten looks and acts just like the feral my parents took in recently. I can't walk by the table without him jumping at me playfully.

Six cats here now and one of them is 40lbs... my 7 year old weighs 45lbs.

Cute video. If that orange cat was in a fight with Chuck Norris, it would win.

45 is a little unbelievable. My feral is the biggest cat I have ever seen. But he has metal in his bones. He dings in a fit and wirey 25 pounds. The same weight as my 12 mnth old. :-/

KK we got in a huge batch of ring worm infested seniors last week. Somebody just dumped them stuffed into a dog kennel next to our trashcan in the wee hours. They are fat, angry (understandably) and diseased. We take the edge off with a bird thing like that one before we chunk the food in. But I love fat old cats. I cant wait until they get better so I can give em some cuddles.

Lester looks that big or bigger. Poor thing can't clean himself and don't take baths. My step mother takes a hose to him and he likes it actually.

Other than that she has diaper wipes to clean his ass. It's funny and sad watching him walk. Looks like an AT-AT from star-wars.

She's very tiny. Skinny and small. (she's double jointed in the elbows too freaks me out)

My 9 year old is a brute weight wise compared. I had her doing sit ups and push ups since she was about 4 years old so she's pretty stacked too.

I have no idea why she is wearing cowboy boots in this picture...

Really cute video. I wish I wasn't living with a cat-killing dog, or that would have totally inspired me to go out and adopt a kitty.

Really cute video. I wish I wasn't living with a cat-killing roommate, or that would have totally inspired me to go out and adopt a kitty.

This sounds better.

Our cat is 18 pounds, but not over weight at all. The vet says he is just a big cat, and very healthy.

Sorry, haven't had much time to be online this week. The storms are keeping our volunteers away in droves and it's just been Maria and I to keep the place running.

Generally we do 60 to 70 adoptions a month. Last year was our first full year at this location and we did 714 adoptions altogether. Intake varies depending upon the season (quieter in winter, slammed in spring) but we usually have about 80 cats in the shelter. Some are long-term - meaning less adoptable - residents, others come and go so fast we have to input them into the computer as they're being adopted.

Our landlord just bought a bigger building two blocks from us and we'll be moving there as soon as I finish renovating it. Luckily it's mainly easy work this time, floors and patching walls and putting up some doors. Plus painting it pink, of course! It'll be great to triple our space, we outgrew our present building a week after we moved in.
