Need Help with New Norton Antivirus Upgrade

Just updated to Norton Antivirus 2010. Seemed to go well, except that now I can't access GS.

Tried thru the web site, got a Norton popup asking me if I wanted to allow this program to load, I allowed and clicked on the checkbox for always allowing it. Then Simu came up with an error launching SF, said ActiveX was the problem and I should duse my SGE. Tried that, but when I selected my char, I got a popup saying 'Unable to create a temp file' followed by one saying '"Error launching game".

I wish I could help, but this is a prime example of why we haven't used Norton on our computers for the past 4 or 5 years. AVG and CA Antivirus FTW.

I haven't had anti-virus software in years, and it's never been a problem.

But that's just me. My advice is uninstall it. Get something better.

How do you normally connect to GS? Through the website or SGE? What program do you normally connect with (Wizard or SF)?

I bet somewhere in the Norton options is going to be a place to look at the settings for individual programs.

I can help you further but it would require connecting to your computer and sometimes that can be a pain to make happen, not to mention the trust issue.

Only other things I can think of really, without being able to poke at it, is to uninstall Norton and cross your fingers that undoes the change.

JOSHUA: Norton. A strange program indeed. The only winning move is not to install.

So I installed it the other day. Pretty nice, especially the Utilities function. As of about 5 minutes ago, I did a clean up function. Now I can't get drop down menus on any websites. Anyone have any clue about what is happening?

What version? You could try disabling the phishing feature of Norton and reset all the MSIE settings.

Thanks all. Got it running, basically had to re-input the SGE and launcher as exceptions. Had to go thru shutting down the UAC, setting up exceptions, and restarting, and seems fine now. Gah. I hate upgrading....
