Decided to pickup and play my warrior for a bit now.
This is where I'm at right now. Setup for assessing anything but Polearms. I'd like to remain effective doing this and having a fun warrior, however with his TP's I don't think it's possible. He hunts just fine in a group, even over hunting, but that's massively spelled up and with aid. 8x HCP full plate, 8x tower shield with a 7x longsword currently.

I have a nice shield I'll be not using and wondering if this is really a decently viable route, DS wise dropping my 8x tower shield and all.
Should I need to keep Brawling or can I spend it in other areas? More MOC perhaps?
CMANS
XXXX, your Combat Maneuver training is as follows:
Skill name Mnemonic Ranks
Specialization I wspec1 3
Coup de Grace coupdegrace 5
Weapon Bonding bonding 1
Combat Mobility mobility 2
Truehand truehand 2
Available Combat Maneuver Training Points: 17
Going to drop the Coup de Grace, it was semi fun but impractical I think. Any other suggestions welcome regarding any of Cmans for this build.

Your training is kind of all over the place. It's one thing if you want a warrior that's going to sit in the closet and assess whatever weaponry comes by, but if you want a viable hunter, you're going to need to pick one, perhaps two weapon types (TWC tends to become a 'weapon type' in this scenario) and stick with it.
You're way undertrained for full plate, so it's going to hinder your ability to do anything to avoid maneuvers, and probably increase your RT as well....
Cmans are off, Coup is extremely situational, and where you're already messed up by your plate, I would drop it, in exchange for more bonding. 5x warrior bonding is a nice thing to have...
Truehand's kinda lame, IMHO, ther'es plenty of other Cmans with more validity.
Honestly, there's a lot wrong with the build, but the most glaring problems are that you don't have the TP's to make this a closet assesser AND a hunter.
And secondly, you need to drop to MBP, or ABP until you can get fully into that plate (At 140 ranks, or at least 130 at the VERY minimum)

Wow, I'm a fool. Most of the above is nixxed, since I didn't realize that you had a second build set up.
The second one is actually what I was hoping you'd go with, mostly. You could drop brawling to go to 3x PF for redux, but that's about it. Cmans, usually, a warrior wants to max weapon effectiveness, so I'd say full bonding to a good weapon, and weapon spec to help boost it further. It affects cmans as well that involve the weapon, so perhaps feint if you don't have a decent rank through the guild.

I get penalties to the maneuvers probably, but theres no RT penalty for the platemail and I have room for all sorts of junk before my RT goes up.
Should I keep ambushing for anything other then aimed combat? I'd like to have 1x however I don't seem to have the points. So I figured anything under 1x isn't worth it?
Unlearning Cman Coup de Grace for an extra 30 CP's gonna toss them to bonding and weapon spec. Probably going to follow suit with truehand as well, just not yet.

Oh yeah and WT Feint is used all the time, wouldn't imagine hunting without it.

My personal experience of open-ambushing with a warrior is pretty simple; I got to 35 ranks of ambush and stopped entirely.
Perception helps decently with open ambushing, I went for 1x, and at creatures up to five levels above, didn't have much trouble aiming for leg/head with his fel-hafted waraxe. Brutally effective.
Hunting essentially went: wtrick feint, amb left leg, amb head, loot, proceed as normal.
CMAN is the primary stat for it, though, so try to keep that at 2x. (It should be anyways for added AS).

Perception does not help with aiming melee attacks from the open or hiding.
There seems to always be some confusion about perception and ambush. One of the reasons is the wording on the website describing the perception skill:
In combat, the Perception skill provides a bonus to strike at an AIMed body location on a specified target. This skill also provides an attack strength (AS) bonus for ranged attacks and a defense strength (DS) bonus for users of missile weapons.
Ildran cleared this up a while back.
IOI:4
Perception hasn't ever helped with aiming melee weapons (though it does help with aiming ranged weapons). The only skills involved have been Ambush and Combat Maneuvers since the AMBUSH verb was created.

You could definitely keep your extra weapon types if all you expect to do is assess with them. All you need to be viable as a warrior is plate armor, 2x CM, 2x relevant weapon type, 2x relevant defense, and 2x PF. You'll get a big jump in redux and stamina from the PF, if you're still having trouble you may just have to try a different creature. What are you hunting now?

where is your Pmastery?
Drop coup to like 2 ranks (I like the AS bonus of +35 it gives when you know what you're doing)
truehand is worthless

You'll open aim perfectly fine with minimal or even no ambush, I have no trouble at all aiming with none, have a 75+ percent success rate. singled I didnt get above 85 percent, less then 10 percent return just isnt worth the cost.

I didn't notice the ambush part: especially with OHEs, especially with bonding, you'll aim fine.

Good to know, I'll drop the ambush then to zero. Gain on my Brawling since his path is Voln and kick works quite well for him on most critters.
Someone mentioned having trouble hunting. I'm not really having any issues with hunting and even up hunting(with older characters fast paced). He currently swings at 345 with enhancives and has a pretty decent DS in offensive with the toys and spells. Redux with the HCP plate is working pretty nice, blood loss is pretty much my only bane it seems at this age. Anyway the point is he's not "fun" to hunt and that's why I have not hunted him sense prior to the switch. Just try'n to make him fun and go the warrior route for a bit again and give up being just an assessing bot.

Oh yeah, how would people rank CMAN skills for him in highest to lowest?
Keep in mind he's Voln, decently guild trained so feint, disarm etc isn't an issue.
At this point I was thinking dumping everything I can muster into weapon bonding and weapon spec, which I probably cannot afford with my 82 ranks @ level 39.

Decided I could keep assessing the majority, while dropping thrown for assessing. Dumping all my Cman's into weapon spec I and rank 5 weapon bonding. I'll have some more CMAN points to either go toward weapon spec II and III or should I try for something else perhaps, not decided.
Here's my current training path.

This occurred to me later: if you want to have fun, get CMANs that you think will be fun. CMANs alone aren't enough to make a boring character fun, but it's a start.

Hijack!!
Anyone know the formulas for TWC defense (with stance modifiers)? I'm throwing around the idea of fixskilling my THW warrior into a TWC OHE or Brawling one.
Any and all advice appreciated, especially the good/bad on either weapon path. My biggest concerns are in regards to viability. I'm used to being able to swing a few times at a creature (at most) and killing it with my claid. I expect there to be some offsetting benefits with the faster RT and faster MStrike recovering.
My stats at 20 are:
STR - 85 (27)
CON - 68 (19)
DEX -80 (15)
AGL - 87 (23)
DIS - 85 (17)
AUR - 83 (16)
LOG - 73 (1)
INT - 71 (20)
WIS - 70 (5)
INF - 35 (-11)
Looks like I can fit in the following:
2.6x Armor
2x CM
2x TWC
2x Brawl or OHE
2x Dodge
30 MStrike
A few ranks of HP and Climb
Anyone see anything wrong with the skills? I'd be carrying either a main gauche or a sai in the offhand for defense, and am currently 13th rank in Sunfist (so survivability in war camps is a must). Other than that I don't need must. I'm wearing chain hauberk right now (I know I'm undertrained), but I don't really see RT issues).
Any advice on Cmans also? I'd expect two ranks of PMastery, one rank of Surge, plus some WSpec and bonding. I have spiked armor so I'd like something to utilize that (am not pursuing tackle in the Guild due to the need to hunt a partner down. Same with WarCry). Also, the brawling cmans look interesting (i dont know how viable they are though).
Thanks!

I think people think way too much about mechanics. I'm a level 69 halfling two katar wielding warrior in voln I was fine overhunting wearing 4x metal breastplate, using no spells whatsoever. Your defense is going to be enough. I'm at about 1.5x dodge, but would also do fine with 1x dodge. You will be fine with 2x. Brawling weapons are garbage. So is the main gauche. You don't need defense if you are slaughtering things fast enough. I tried using a sai once. I think they're garbage.
I need to get spelled up, but I can solo warcamps. Get yourself 2 fire flaring weapons, hit berserk, and watch them die.
As a halfling at level 69, I have one rank of surge. I rarely ever use it, my AS is high enough. Parry mastery is key. Twin hammerfist (brawling or katars only) is best for knockdown. The other option is cman hamstring. Bonding to me is not important until you can get the rank 5 double strike.
