Starkly

[Bhaalizmo]

The character Starkly has been known to falsely accuse random people of random acts (usually theft), and then his cohorts bear false witness in public amunet, or psinet discussions against the accused. His purpose is to have a random character target to kill. He seems to thoroughly enjoy the righteous indignation of the randomly targeted character. His accomplices (those who will bear false witness against the accused, and/or participate in the attack) include Tyril, Zodin, Cromir, Kkrog, Galdrus, Ashkell, and Wordek.

Edit: The purpose of this post is simply to be informative and warn others. Had I read something like this I might've reacted like "hey look, it's that doosh I heard about" instead of being like "WTF is this crap?".

Edit: since I posted this earlier today I have recieved numerous accounts of Starkly and associates disruptive behavior in game. I often aid even scoundrels when it gains me experience points, but for this crew I recommend no heal, rezz, or aid.

My purpose was simply to warn others. I know about the warn system, I know about the report system, and I know I could get an older character to deal with it if needed. Turns out, it's not needed because Starkly failed to do my character any harm due to his own ineptitude. This is a forum for character complaints, I feel the guy is a giant doosh, so I'm using this forum to complain about him and warn others. I know lots and lots of other ways of dealing with it, but this one entertained me at the time.

Last time I left reputation the only options were positive/negative.
Must be due to user demand, because I was getting a ton of invalid rep before, but it was always tagged positive or negative.

The sad part to me is to be falsely publicly accused when I often give gems, picking, healing, rezzing etc away for no tip. I've even rezzed most of the tools listed at the start of this thread. The public accusation and false witness really irked me for a moment till I realized the nature of the tool I was dealing with. The good part is that the intent of this thread has been served. By Starkly and company coming on here spouting drivel he's only served to further the purpose of this thread, which is to spread the word. I was a GM in another game, and I'd often read whiny forum complaints about a particular player.

"Everyone knows so and so is an asshole, why don't the GMs ban him?"

The answer is because the accusations are being leveled outside of the game, in a childish manner. The person making the complaint loses credibility when the truth starts coming out and the complainer's own actions.

If you want to help your fellow role players then warn, assist, report, or shut up.

If you want to flame somebody, then just flame them and drop the 'It's for the children" routine.

No such luck there. The trolls accusations in game are just as false as those made out of game, which is why I decided to post this complaint against the group in the first place.

Everybody knows that the in-game warn, report, assist options are limp-wristed at best. Warning, assisting, etc does nothing to publicly label the trolls. I'm not here to flame, I just want to tar and feather the trolls so they can be seen by anyone who reads the first post in this thread for what they are. The rest of the thread is pretty much a degenerate flame fest.

Thanks for your advice, but it amounts to shut up and take it, or whine to a GM, neither of which give me any satisfaction. At least now I have the satisfaction of knowing that others have read of Starkly and pals exploits and will be forewarned.

The character Starkly has been known to falsely accuse random people of random acts (usually theft), and then his cohorts bear false witness in public amunet, or psinet discussions against the accused. His purpose is to have a random character target to kill. He seems to thoroughly enjoy the righteous indignation of the randomly targeted character. His accomplices (those who will bear false witness against the accused, and/or participate in the attack) include Tyril, Zodin, Cromir, Kkrog, Galdrus, Ashkell, and Wordek.

Edit: The purpose of this post is simply to be informative and warn others. Had I read something like this I might've reacted like "hey look, it's that doosh I heard about" instead of being like "WTF is this crap?".

Edit: since I posted this earlier today I have recieved numerous accounts of Starkly and associates disruptive behavior in game. I often aid even scoundrels when it gains me experience points, but for this crew I recommend no heal, rezz, or aid.

I haven't read all the posts.. just this one.. but I used to do something similar with Falgrin in the park. I would get 2-3 thief friends together and start stealing from people. If someone blamed one of us, we would quickly turn the attention to someone who was innocent saying things like "I don't want to point blame at anyone.. but did you notice that XYZ came in here.. spent some time, then quickly headed off towards the bank?" Hilarity would normally ensue... sometimes even innocent blood was shed.

The only thing funnier is your attempt to blacklist them.. which hasn't worked very well in 10+ years... though, with the low population GS is now experiencing.. maybe it'll make a comeback.
