Escorts : how do I fix this?

Scenario :

- on an escort from WL to Ta'Illistim. currently In Zul Logoth.
- got disconnected from the game. log back in when I'm able. a couple minutes later, my escortee reappears (i.e. "a giantman traveller has arrived"). PHEW!
- continue on my merry way, but forget that I have to "wait up" for the escortee to show up on every screen
- get on the mining cart to Zhindel Output
- realize "oh shit, traveller is not with me"
- am forced to log out for the next week, while on mining cart
- log back in, finish cart ride, immediately go back, but can't remember the exact location I lost track of the traveller before
- wait a minute or two on all screens that I think could have been likely spots I lost the traveller on, but no traveller re-appears
- did NOT receive an adventurer's guild task failed message yet, so I should still be able to complete this (somehow?)
- made an ASSIST REQUEST, but no response

Suggestions?
