OK after doing a few months researching,

It was my understanding when doing chrism gems, it was better if you did the holy receptacle spell where you can 'sense' your deity the strongest.

However, when the Eorgina temple was closed off due to the Sol Haven story line, (and I was more then fine with that cause let me tell ya, I so miss all the nom nom nom), I was forced to do my chrism gems where ever. (No major sanctuary does not give a sense to your chosen deity.)

Since the re opening of the temple, (the only place that I can sense my deity.) I have gone back and forth on making the gems trying to figure out if there really is any advantage to doing it where I should other then RP purposes.

I can't see any!

Anyone else want to put in and explain to me if I am missing something?

I don't think that bonus/penalty applies to making chrisms. I think it's only for imbedding spells into gems.

I chrism all my gems wherever I happen to be on my cleric (usually Teras) and never have any problems. He's V'Tull aligned if it matters.
