The stealing verb is buggy. If you type 'STEAL', it provides the proper syntax for use with this verb.
This does not work. I had someone stand there and I tried every which way I could to steal a diamond from her satchel.
You can target containers.. but you cannot target specific items in specific containers.
I think before breakage and any of the other GS4 features roll out, all the GMs should fix this very valuable verb.

I know for a fact it's possible to target items. You were doing something wrong.
I target wands all the time and if there is one in the container, I get it.

Also, here is why you can't steal a diamond, idiot:
A thief can specify a type of item to go after, such as amulets, gems, wands, etc. However, they may not go after a specific type of an item, such as white crystals or diamonds, with the exception of allowable skins, and it is still possible to simply get coins.

Proper syntax = steal <person> gem satchel. It works.

He was using steal <person> diamond satchel. lolz.
Falgrin there are Pin warn diamonds which can not be stolen, that is prolly why you could not get it
