To clarify, there's no way to disarm everything I come across without a toolkit, is there? Having recently fixskilled back into a picker, I've been out of that game for a while.
I just hate having to carry something around that aesthetically bothers me and takes up a belt-worn slot. I'd be apt to alter one to my liking, but don't they run out of cotton, putty, and the like? Don't you just have to purchase a new one, regardless?
I assisted, in game, and the two GH's that came in have never tried lockpicking and had no idea about the toolkits, period.

After you alter one can't you just empty toolkit into my whateverthefuckyoualteredthetoolkitinto? And are you sure it has to be worn and can't be open inside another container?
I can't remember it's been a minute since I did any picking.

I include a section in my picking script that removes the toolkit from my primary container and wears it and then another section that removes it and stows it. I do this with my herb sack too.

Anticor: you can't empty toolkits. The putty, cotton, grips, file and needle cannot be removed a all.
oneill: so you're saying nope?
Leave the toolkit open and put it in your cloak. You can reach in and grab what you need without taking up a container slot.
You dont have to wear the toolkit in order to use it.
*You can empty the contents of one toolkit into another (except for calipers) by holding both in your hand and using the bundle command(?) or something like that. Some toolkits will allow you to keep extra calipers and a pick or two depending on if they're custom or shop purchased.
I have a few of the 100 count (cotton, putty, etc.) in my locker of the account I currently have on hold... (yea, a lot of good that does you)

Oh heck. That's cool. I didn't know you could leave it open in a container like that. That solves it.

Correct. The bundle command is what moves the cotton and putty, but they all hold 100. They only have 50 when freshly bought though. If you buy two new kits from the locksmith you can bundle them immediately and trash the empty one.
Also, I'm not sure if it's actually bigger or not, but there is an ankle-worn toolkit that is more than capable of holding a dozen lockpicks, a set of calipers, and half a dozen wedges. This will free up your belt slot unless you have something else you'd prefer to wear on your ankle.
I wouldnt recommend carrying a shit load of wedges since they weigh 2 lb. or so each. At the most I carried two on me at a time.

Sorry, bro. I'm not sure how I missed that. I had no idea what you meant until I just now went back and read it.

I used to wear a toolkit on my old cleric just to confuse people.

I have these vague memories of Rogane (WRossartley) being an empath and trying to trick people into thinking he was a locksmith.

My picker always kept her toolkit in her boots, along with the dagger she used for scale traps. Easy enough to leave the boots open, and no need to remember to get the thing out and put it away afterwards.

I'm going to go ahead claim grandfather rights to the idea since I first did it five or six years ago.

is there any way to get the needle, file, and grips out?
Not that I'm aware of.
Only the putty, cotton and calipers.
I could be missing something - its been a while. :(
