Please, your opinions on armor for bards -
Should I shoot for sonic and sunfist sigil for padding (not sure if it's feasible...still need to read up on it) or a set of enchanted HCP aug chain?

I did all of my bards the hard way against conventional wisdom
first bard went to 66 trains in 4x doubles lightly padded
second bard went to 96 trains with +17 brigandine heavily padded I think
third bard is mid 90's hunting in +10 adamantine brigandine

I think conventional wisdom would have bards first wearing doubles, then brigandine to augmented chain

A few bards will go the inexpensive way wearing sonic gear.

The moral of the story is just about any will work

Use Sonics.
Stop at ASG15

It is difficult to get a good look at Kizun due to the number of mirror images of him nearby.
You see Kizun the Loresinger.
He appears to be a Human.
It is difficult to properly see his features as the hood of his cloak is pulled down over his face.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a sonic shield in his left hand.
He is wearing a prickly thanot thorn crown, a dull black neckpouch, a sinuous shroud of dark ethereal mist that drifts about eerily on unseen winds, a dark golvern mesh cloak with an oversized hood, a high-collared tunic of tiny overlapping dark golvern scales, a pair of sleek dark silk hand wraps, a low-slung golvern link belt, a leather navigator's case, an ink black bag, some fitted dark chainsil trews bound from knee to ankle in black silk, and a pair of dark golvern-plated boots.

Pray for a sonic alteration. <3

Sonics to ASG12 has worked well for me to level 80 so far. Not planning on changing in the foreseeable.

Still praying for a sonic alter!

Don't you want to stop at some armor that doesn't cover the head? I feel like I remember hearing somewhere that head coverage has a negative effect on bardsongs. I could also be completely insane. Either way, if you have the mana for the upkeep, go sonic.

Thanks all, I'll probably start with the Aug Chain then swap to sonic once my mana is a bit more lucrative...does anyone know if the GoS sigil that provides padding works with sonic armor though?

Yeah, definitely go to augmented chain and NOT HAUBERK. And the GoS sigil that provides padding work with anything since the padding from the sigil is modifying your character specifically and not your items. This is also why the padding from GoS stacks with padding on armor.

As I understand it, the weighting on weapons from GoS works this well as well; that is, it stacks. And, I *think* it adds crit weighting to bolts, as well, although I can't confirm that.

You're correct in both instances. It's been posted by GM's in the past this is true.
