Here's the problem doing what I think he wants by using profiles: keybinds. Maybe I'm weird or have some big OCD thing when it comes to this, but I like to group the buttons based on their utility. Those groups would be something like bread and butter attacks, AE attacks, offensive cooldowns, defensive cooldowns, food/health/rest stuff, etc. I also have a tendancy to keep the keybinds similar. For example, I use alt-x for my warlock pet's main attack, essentially spell lock or seduce, so that bind became the default 'defense' button; ice block, PW:S, AMS, etc. Now, when you go and completely change your style and the spells you have and use, this little OCD setup gets completely wrecked due to all the bar mods limiting things to actual 'bars'.
I do this too, and it works just fine with Bartender. D is always my "oh shit" button, no matter who I'm playing or what that button actually is. 5 is my interrupt. QWER are main attacks. That sort of thing. That won't be a problem with any bar mod I can think of, the way I do things.


Errr, I use bartender4, and it saves what buttons/abilities I have on what bars between specs. Is that what you're looking for?
I want it to do exactly this, but have 3 or 4 different specs saved (even though Blizzard only supports 2). That way I can just set up pve ret, pvp ret, pve holy, and whatever else and never have to deal with it again. I tried messing with profiles, but that doesn't seem to do any good. That will change around the placement/sizing/whatever of the bars, but not whether bar 3 slot 2 is Crusader Strike or Holy Light.

Oh I see, you want more than the standard 2 all out ability swaps. I don't think you can do that. If you don't use all 10 bars, you could concievably put 1-5 as PvP ret and 6-10 as PvE ret, and have which ones are visible switch based on the profile you're using, for example.

The API restricts you to the bars you have access to in the standard UI. Bartender etc kind of hack it a bit, they have the standard 6 page bars, left and right1 and 2, and then they count the shapeshift bar as bar10, and give you the option on setting what bar you want your bars to switch to if you ever shapeshift/stance dance, etc. Stance/shapeshift is its own separate bar which you can't edit and is only available in applicable specs.

Ah, I didn't realize they limited the bars like that.


I guess the bars can be customizable in the sense that you can make a 10 button bar with 2 columns, thus making it 5 "2 button bars", for example, but then you're restricted to 118 buttons because you took a 12 button bar and made it 10 buttons. With the trimming of the fat in WoW these days, though, I don't really see the need for so many bars. The only time I've had trouble with bar space is on my warrior, as you want to page your main bar based on your stance and also have static bars. But even stancing issues are going away in MoP, so gg.

I know. I was just thinking of some things that would take up button space, initially thinking of macros and mounts/pets. It has been a while, though, since I've done much aside from level and put crap on the AH. A lot of things about Lich King turned me off in general and combined with guild bullshit that seems to come around any time info on the next expansion starts cropping up, I had enough. Last raid I set foot in was ICC, but that was only a couple runs before I gave up due to horrible FPS. Mobo ended up crapping out a couple months later, so I'm guessing that was the root of that problem. Before that, I guess I did most of Ulduar and some ToC. Haven't set foot in a single Cata 5man or raid.

So according to what I'm seeing here (http://www.icy-veins.com/warlord-zon-ozz-detailed-strategy), bouncing the ping pong ball on Zon'ozz doesn't hurt any more in heroic than it does in normal. Both wowhead and icy-veins.com show just a generic 180k damage (before 25% debuff) in 10-man, no matter which difficulty you're on. If that's the case, that gives us a lot more freedom in terms of where Ryan is and when he moves up to be with the melee for dark phase. Making him run across the entire room and then play catch-up with our health bars was not working well last night.

Bob going ele might not be the most elegant solution at first, but it works out better in the long run if he gets some practice with the spec. Every raid has one fight that makes us want to screw with our ranged/melee balance, and having someone who can switch if needed would be pretty nifty.

We were 2 melee (Dora/Bob) and 3 ranged (Pjaay, Scramby, Tungston) for quite a while. Then Thomas went tank, SR went rogue, and I switched to my shadow priest (for about 3 weeks). When I went back to Dora instead of the priest, that's when we started having occasional melee issues. Every time I suggest otherwise though, you go stroking my ego and telling me that we need my dps on Dora.

3 people is not enough to soak the ball. If anyone at range gets the random debuff while the ball is coming toward range it will be a wipe.

180k * .75 = 135k, split 3 ways is 45k per person. Dispelling debuff is 60k damage to the person dispelled (assuming they're not in the middle of the group, in which case it's 60k to all 3 of you). Absolute worst case scenario is 105k damage. It won't happen often that the 2 events are so close together there's no time to get off even 1 quick heal in between.

Yes....If we have 3 people standing in range and one has the debuff he has to run out or he will explode and throw us all across the room. If this happens while a highly stacked ball is coming toward us it will wipe the remaining people out. This is why having only 3 people standing there is a terrible idea because eventually the ball will only hit 2 people and someone will die.

Also we also usually only stack to 5 which reduces the damage the ball is doing. We need to go to 7 in heroic.

Yah, and on top of that the healers are going to be stretched to their limits on this fight as it is. So while I appreciate the spacing issues we were having last night it would probably be better to come up with better positioning for the dark phase then increase the spike damage ranged is taking further draining the healers mana. It takes alot less mana for healers to clean up 60k damage split three ways then 90k damage two. We need to do 3 dark phases total. Even if we had perfect positioning I have my doubts the healers will have mana left by the third dark phase.

We need to change something around. Last night, by the time Ryan got to the melee, we were all down to 20% health or less. Catching up at that point completely drained him, and he was OOM before the end of dark phase #1. If we made it to the 2nd phase at all, he had no reserves and couldn't do a damn thing for us.

Well honestly Ryan could probably pre-shield and mending all of you before dark phase even begins. Im sure he will once we see the fight more. On top of that he doesnt need to stack with you guys so he really only has to move as much as you do and then stop and heal. I also think healing assignments on this fight are a bit too rigid, Chef should just focus on Tungstin but heal everyone if he can. You guys are relatively close. I feel like he could position himself to keep melee and tungstin up but instead just wanders over to Tungstin and sits on his face. Also on one of the attempts Ryan just walked the completely wrong direction and healed me by accident. So like I think just more attempts will help. Not to be a dick or anything but Chef is kind of healbot addict that has incredibly low awareness and fights like this is were it begins to show because Cenedre is left completely on his own healing 6 people which is pretty unfair.

Going forward I think Melee should start close to the tank and just tell Chef to heal everyone as much as possible that way at the beginning of the phase when damage is highest you guys have two healers. While I think a third ranged dps would help, im not sure having Talladar do 5k dps is the solution to our problems.

I agree with most of that, except the part about melee starting close to the tank. Every add killed removes a stack of that constant dot on us during dark phase, and those flails are the fastest/easiest to kill. They also do ugly things to people if left alive (■Sludge Spew– The Flail of Go'rath spews sludge at a random player, inflicting 22837 to 24009 Shadow damage. ). Starting on that thing and working our way in to the tank is really the most effective use of our time in terms of add control.

So just attack the flail closest to the tank with chef standing inbetween and work your way out. By the time you are out of range of chef we wont be taking spike damage and Cenedre will easily keep you all up by himself.

Except that the flail on melee's side of the room is the furthest add away from the boss. It's boss+claw+tungstin, then an eye, another eye, a third eye, then the flail. If we're just talking about Chef, he can stand around the 2nd eye somewhere and probably be able to reach everyone. If we're talking about where the melee goes, I really think we should start on the flail and work our way in toward the boss.

You guys confuse me. Why aren't you soaking with 5 in ranged, 4 in melee? The 7th bounce hits the ranged, everyone spreads to their position for flails (except for the tank) while the tank drags the boss to the ball, melee need to be out of the way after the 6th bounce (though still DPSing from the side I guess). If you time it right, you shouldn't get a 2nd set of dispels, they should come right after the first black phase.

I don't know how you do dark phase, but we still 3 heal this fight for convenience sake. One healer left, one right, one stacks on the big ass tentacle with the tank. Of your six dps, two go left (2 rDPS or 1rDPS/1 frost DK putting on fevers), 2 go right (usually the DoT classes since there's one extra eye that way and they can multi-dot). Those four are responsible for burning down the flail (which is why we prefer ranged because they knock back melee and hurt...and are far away as Nekk said) which shouldn't take more than a few seconds, then working on eyes from the outside in. Our melee then work on eyes from the inside out. Then our rogue goes all blade flurry on the boss and practically soloes the big tentacle, because blade flurry copies the increased damage you're doing to Zon'ozz each time, making it go quicker and quicker each black phase.

On the 3rd black phase, we leave one of the eyes up on the right and heal through it. On the fourth one, we all stack on the big tentacle, bloodlust, and burn it down.

Also, if you're melee heavy, just have your best ranged on the left, where there's only 2 eyes, to burst the flail and the far eye while a melee burns the near eye, put the two other melee on the first two eyes to the right so your other two ranged can concentrate on the flail and the really far eye.

Also, the eyes beams can be interrupted even though they don't have a cast time - when they crouch down, they're casting, and you can stun and/or interrupt to prevent them from casting their beam.

We actually can phase it the biggest problem is that we are so incredibly melee heavy that only sending 1 healer with the melee is essentially asking one person to solo heal the entire raid for 30 seconds. So we were discussing having our tank healer shift a little to help.

Errr, I don't know how you guys do it, but when we have 3 melee, we have them and our disc priest in melee, and he heals the tank while the two heals in ranged have range on all the DPS (but not the tank). Ryan can help out on the melee, but he should really be concentrating on the tank. The problem you guys have with 4 melee is you need a healer in to have range on the tank, so you have 5 in melee, and 4 in ranged (where the heaviest, 7th bounce is). If both debuffs go out in range, this can fuck you real quick. I don't really know how to deal with that other than what you seem to be doing, having ryan run back tot he ranged - he should probably only do that for bounce 7 though. That's when Tungston would probably want to pop some major CDs.

A: If the leader of the group meets the requirements (meaning is below level 90 in this case), I believe they can still queue you, especially if your group is completely premade. I'd have to check this though. We went back and forth on it. In any case, you can always just show up at the entrance to the dungeon the old-fashioned way and zone in.

In general, we don't want players using Dungeon Finder to queue for lower level content that is much too easy for them because then players who want to run the content at the appropriate level are faced with overpowered players who trivialize the experience, or pull aggro off a lower level tank, etc. We have no problem with you running lower level dungeons, provided other players aren't adversely affected.


Q: Are Challenge mode dungeons going to offer more than just speed runs and a flat ilvl? I love the idea but I hopes it's more than just racing against a clock in an easy dungeon in the gear it's meant to be ran in.
A: At the Bronze level, you'll do good to just complete the dungeon in a reasonable amount of time, but you'll probably need to take it slow and stop and plan. It isn't just a test of who has the fastest movement speed. At the Gold level, you'll need to up your game even more and play smart as well as quick, taking risks where appropriate. The Bronze level is more like Heroic Arcatraz, Shadow Labyrinth or Shattered Halls when they were new. Gold level is more like a Zul Aman bear run when you didn't overgear the content.

That's the intent anyway. Nobody outside these walls has seen them yet so you'll have to let us know how they feel.

A: They are tuned harder. There are even some additional pulls and mechanics when necessary.

I will play any class/spec/role that needs to be filled. I'm kind of enjoying the freedom to play whoever now that achievements will be account-wide. Tank/heal/melee/ranged/whatever, just make a group, figure out what buffs we're missing, and I'll be that.

Was a pretty skilled player back in wotlk, have some feats of strength with some better achievement dates on them. ToC 45+ skill, undying, naxx raider. Since the additions to my family I've been reduced to not playing, and now at a more casual role, but I was main tank for my guild as a paladin and I also was capable of filling in as a healer when needed. I also led the secondary raid with my warrior tank or my warlock, as needed. I also have a Druid I was healing on. If you guys want one/any of the as a casual back-up/fill-in I'd be more then happy to transfer over.

ETA: I'd also be more then happy to bring anything up from 0 as needed, but my talents lie in tanking and healing more so then dps.

In all honesty, you might. We're not actually racist, but we have no concern whatsoever for political correctness. We tell TheE that he's a terrorist constantly because his skin is brown, and say that we include him in raids only to get our token non-white guy. The word "gay" is almost always meant as a joking insult (see the "bobber" teasing above about Anticor). If you're okay with the joking that goes on in this thread and the rest of the socializing folders on the PC, you'll be fine in the guild. If you think the things we say here are dumb, you won't be any more entertained by our in-game chatter.

AOE Looting
Area of effect looting comes to World of Warcraft with this patch. After killing a group of enemies in close proximity, when you loot one of their corpses, the loot window will include items from all of the nearby corpses for which you have loot rights.

All classes have been updated with a new talent system, improved abilities, and spells (accessible throughout levels 1-85). Your character's talents have been reset.

Spell Penetration has been replaced by PvP Power on existing items.
Head enchants removed

The slot in which ranged, relics, and thrown items were previously equipped has been removed. All weapons should now be equipped in the weapon slot.
Ranged weapons, including wands, have been adjusted to be more powerful.

The glyph system has been updated. Many class glyphs have been added, altered, or moved to different glyph types.
Prime glyphs have been removed.
User Interface

There is a new user interface for your mounts and pets.
Character creation screens have been updated.

The PvE queue frames have been unified. You can now queue for dungeons, raids, and other queue-able content in one handy place.
Vendors now offer item filtering.
Spellbooks have been updated to reflect changes to core abilities, and now include a brief overview of specializations.
The Dungeon Journal has been expanded with information on all pre-Cataclysm encounters.
A new help system has been added to many frames. You can toggle this on and off by clicking the "i" button in the upper left corner of the frame.

They were for a while, but the last beta build slammed them in the face with a 2x4. I'm not sure how things are settling out yet.

And they just got nerfed again in today's beta patch. But so did many other classes.

Apparently they're shooting for around the 100k DPS mark in raids. Hunters were simming at the bottom of the heap at 100k and they were considered "tuned." Since then, everyone else has been progressively nerfed down towards that mark.

Paladins are still bursty as hell, Keller, but kinda meh otherwise. Wings are becoming undispellable though, right?

With the release of patch 5.0.4, we’re making all the races of Azeroth playable by anyone, no matter which version or expansion of World of Warcraft they own. This includes the enigmatic pandaren, who will become available for play when Mists of Pandaria is released on Tuesday, September 25. We want the entire World of Warcraft community to be able to embrace their inner goblin, blood elf, worgen, draenei, or pandaren from the moment they step foot into the world of Azeroth.
Yesterday, patch 5.0.4 was scheduled for 8/28. Now it's 9/25? Either someone mixed up patch versions/dates, or I'm just very confused. I got all excited for a minute, thinking we could roll up a panda (but not a monk) in 2 weeks.

Clarication:

So if you only have the original game (which now has The Burning Crusade included), when patch 5.0.4 hits you'll be able to create goblin and worgen characters as well. And, once Mists of Pandaria is released, you'll be able to create pandaren characters, regardless of whether or not you own Mists of Pandaria.
No early pandas. /sigh

He claimed he had an authenticator, he had his identity stolen to have it removed by calling Blizzard, etc, etc. All the fanbois started raging.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the interwebs, the rogue on the r2 3s team, widely considered the best rogue in the world, Khuna, was streaming something on an alt. For some reason, he needs a file for some purpose. He switches to his desktop, opens his generic WoW folder, and up pops that annoying "file preview" tiled look of the folder...which shows a series of 3 scans of a completely fabricated ID for Hydra, whose name and birthday and address are known as a member of the eSports team Dignitas. Over 2k people watching his stream see this.

Shit hits the fan. Khuna claims in an arenajunkies post that his 3s partner, Xandryn (a mage) did the hacking and edited the ID and just sent him his progress, and disbanded the team. He then posts a skype conversation posting pretty much that (though of course, Skype is much more easily hacked).

Someone's gonna go to jail...over WoW. Mind blown.
