Figured since I'm poking around other forums, I should probably do the same here..

After watching the Dorkness Rising movie, it got me thinkin about D&D again.. I used to play online via chat rooms and such back in the hayday (10 years ago).

Anyone play online from these forums by chance? If so, have any good forums for games/etc?

I found maptools and such programs for visual/DM aids, and I wish we had em when I played.. woulda been great.

Most websites I've come across play via posting on forums, not real time. Kinda lame, but eh, easier to do than devote a night to playing 3-4 hours..

When I played online, my group used a program called OpenRPG. Very handy, with support for maps, minis, dice and such, along with chatrooms where you'd have your campaigns. It had private messaging built in, so a DM could tell you something only you should know, and was capable of saving character sheets and the like, which you could send to other people in the same room.

Nice little program. Read more about it at http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=orpg

I used to play a lot before the cap rose to 16. Was a great game, real fun and I liked how the character planning was so much more in depth than GS. It was also my first time playing any D&D, as I have never done the pen and paper. However, now that the play is free, a lot has gone down the hill it seems.

Count me in if you decide to play. I can't remember if I still have my character sheets lying around, but I've missed the game!

I've been thinking about it here and there, but I would definately want to figure out a workable custom class if that sort of thing is even viable in the pen and paper version.

All of my D&D knowledge comes from Neverwinter Nights and Stephen Lynch, so...

There is a D&D mmo, it's actually free now, a friend of mine keeps trying to get me to join and play, the levels are a lot like classic D&D, level 16 is actually rather high level.

Is it because you die and aren't resurrected that you don't hit cap?

I dont wanna play a mmo, just a reg game with 5-10 people like it would be had I actually have friends that played D&D
