View Full Version : Resolutions for 2010

Is it bad that I've had the same New Year's resolutions since 2007?

1) Leave corporate job to do something more fulfilling
2) Get back to college weight
3) Beat Battletoads without using save states

EDIT: On a random note, I have come way closer to reaching the first two than the third one. That shit is impossible.

1) buy 2+ apartment buildings to build my own new income stream and not have to get a job.

2) compete in a powerlifting contest

3) be happy and remember I am blessed just being here and able to post my resolutions

1. Go into business for myself within the year.
2. Go to the bar every Monday night to practice and get shockingly good at pool.
2a. Break the bar's jukebox so the sad-fat cowboy that always flirts with the 'tender can't play any more fucking Nickleback and Kings of Leon.
3. Go to the World's Fair in Shanghai this year.

If I'm going to make a change, I'm just gonna do it, whether it's January 1 or August 12 or December 29.

At least some of ya'll are saying things that are pretty specific.

1. Not get pwned while trying to get some nookie like I did last night. Somebodies kid came and totally ruined me doin the deed with this chick at a new years party...

2. Pick up some more major clients.

3. Not have a rough ass summer like last year. Laying off people sucks balls.

4. Hopefully go out on the boat more than like 4 times the entire year...See numbers two and three to have the cash to be able to do number four.

I hear really good things, but I don't like the idea of 1. Not seeing numbers, and 2. Skill based progression.

Sounds like it encourages a crazy amount of scripting.

I tried out Dragonrealms once upon a time, and I could never find a time when I was comfortable just sitting back and relaxing in-game for a while. There was always another skill you could be practicing, even if you were 'fried' on some skills you could go practice others. While some people don't enjoy the 'enforced resting' from Gemstone, I've always liked it because it causes people to gather in places like towns and interact instead of just constantly being out powerhunting.

1. Never have more than one load of laundry in the hamper.
2. Make those people in my house 16yrs of age or older get a driver's license.
3. Be more direct with people in general, instead of trying to always be the nice person and smooth things over.

New Years resolutions are meaningless. If you haven't motivated yourself to do something for 364 other days.. what makes you think you can set a goal and accomplish it on that 1 day a year?

If I want to do something, I don't wait until New Years day to do it... I just do it.

It's kinda like Valentine's. Sure you could spend all that money on your woman any of the other 364 days of the year, but why do that when you'll still have to do it all again anyway when Valentine's Day rolls around?

2. Make those people in my house 16yrs of age or older get a driver's license.

I don't think I've known of anyone (especially in their teens) that didn't want to get their driver's license as soon as they possibly could. Weird.

Haha! That's why I always have resolutions I already know are going to happen.

I'm too much a perfectionist to take a gamble at not getting my way. :)

I have a friend who's 27 and still doesn't have his license, and has no desire to get one. He's perfectly content to walk or ask people for rides everywhere. I worry about him.

Fixed.

That too. At least that gives a chance of some kind of rotation in the hunting grounds so that the same clown/scripter isn't hogging all the critters in an area non-stop.

One of my best friends from high school REFUSED to get her driver's license. She was (and I assume still is; I haven't talked to her in 10 years since she turned into a mega-cunt) terrified of "having the responsibility of controlling 2 tons of steel."

I could also understand it from someone who lives in an area where a car really isn't needed, like NYC.

I haven't driven in two years. Can't say that I miss it really and I can walk almost anywhere I need here.

I'll have to start driving for work most likely although I'm really trying to avoid any sort of commute. Would rather walk or take a SINGLE bus ride... fuck transfers.

1. Learn Spanish. I mentioned one too many times that I wished I knew another language and my husband said, "well here's a thought...why don't you TAKE A FUCKING LESSON?!". So I started lessons a couple weeks ago and can now recite the days of the week, months, and about ten colors. Useful shit like that.

2. Learn to exercise more patience. I've had this one listed every year since I was a teenager though so don't hold your breath.

Spanish is pretty easy once you get rolling.

You should have picked Farsi or something cool.

I wanted a language I'd have a greater opportunity to use. There's a big population of spanish speaking people hereabouts.
