Ok there are two questions! The first is... what do you call it? It is when you take a piece of bread, rip a hole in the middle, put it in a pan, and cook an egg in the hole. Now I've always known it to be a one eye but someone told me it was called something with toad in it.
And the poll.. do you like it or do you hate it?
Never had it.. is it worth trying?

It's a fancy way of making fried egg with a piece of toast. I love it (then again I love eggs), except I really don't remember what it's called.

Does the bread toast though or fry?
I would like it if the bread was toasty but fried bread makes me hurl

I prefer bacon and buttered toast, or just pancakes for breakfast.
No fancy egg-related crap for me.
Usually though, I skip breakfast and lunch.

The bread is fried. You cook the bread with the egg (the egg basically becomes part of the bread). I find it really good. I leave it so the yolk (sp?) is still liquid and then you cut pieces of the bread and dip it into the hole and get it covered in yolk and eat it... really good.

Ideally I would toast the bread first before you pop the egg into it, that way it holds the egg firmly in the middle. If not it leaks into the bread, unless it's french bread and then the egg going into the bread is a good thing.
I'd rather have french toast if given the choice. :D

The mom was making them in "Moonstruck" and they looked good then too.
I may have to make one tonight as a test.

I don't like eggs. Give me pancakes, french toast, sausage, home fries and bacon for breakfast.
Raisin Bran too.

Scrambled eggs. Bacon.
The only meal I know how to make, and really it's all I need. Throw some cheddar in the eggs, mmmmmmm. Bread is for... I don't know, someone who's not me, I guess.

Won't someone think of the baby chickens?
I don't eat eggs unless they are scrambled. Well thats a lie on a rare occasion I'll have a fried egg in a sandwhich.
I love eggs any way.. add some cheese and I'm in heaven. Well, for the short time it takes me to eat em at least .

That sounds pretty damn good, I can't believe I've never had one. I'll be trying that some morning this week.
As far as eggs go, I think frittatas are the best. I used to love when my grandmother made those things. Unfortunately, mine don't compare to hers.

I have always known those as one eye'd Jacks, love em, but not as much as a puff pastry cup stuffed with scrambled eggs and covered with gravy, now that is a good breakfast.

My gf eat that each 2-3 morning, call it "oeuf dans le trou", egg in the hole.
Very good for her, I hate eggs in general, must have something in it to eat em (onions, ham, whatever)
