About to fix skill with this today but figured before I did I'd throw it out there.
Stuck with poles I didnt want to fix my cmans and I actually am learning to love charge.
What am I missing folks
Im worried about the .75 dodge its a gamble but with Mirrors and Tonis who knows
Worried I wont be able to run Tonis reg... if so this build ends up useless.

You messed up when you decided not to be a pure bard.

if your going to mettle with bards at least try to incorporate the pun and some candid whit with your sarcasm. We have higher standards than your average ITG thread.
On the serious though I did dabble with pure for a while pure its just not my thing, aside from which he's giantkin and the stats are seriously mal for it, his demeanor doesn't suit it, and I have around 10m in polearms sitting in my locker.
Not a lot for those of you who've been playing steadily over the years but in the last 16 or so I've kept this account active I've probably played 1 year out of 3 since the late 90s. Its a considerable investment for me.

What's the fun of being the most effective hunter with a very small possibility of an unsuccessful hunt? Live on the edge just say no to being a pure bard!

Is level 40 high enough to be an effective pure bard?

whell, i'll definitely try to do that next time. sorry i whasn't able to live up to your whishes for this whonderfully perfect thread.
also, wat you said there makes no fucking sense. If you whant your bard to be sub-par, then rock polearms. And if you whant your bard to suck yak nuts, make him a OHE user. whord.

Actually I think there is middle ground but what the hell do I know. The only thing a pure bard has on me is a little CS and they wear a bigger hat.

Truthfully, not really. You're going to be dealing with mana issues, I personally didn't attempt becoming a pure until late 70's or early 80's. However, if you MA you can definitely become a pure at any level you can share properly at. Good luck though, to those of you that wanna become pure at level 40.

I'm a capped pure bard, so I'm partial to pures... however I was once a polearm user and a OHE user. Not too long ago, I tried being a half pure and having the ability to still swing a blade. (I don't miss using a weapon, I missed being a pure.)
Here's some quick advice; If you're going to get CM, get odd numbers, each CM is increased with an odd number by 1 point. If you're going to do the whole 1005 and polearm get more HP, it'll do you some good. I would have worked more on Air than Telepathy. You're skills don't look that bad, a few minor changes and you could be fine. You could hunt the way you are now. You'll also want to remember your song of sword, it'll help you greatly in battle. When you get older, you'll want to rethink your training path, most bards do and some stay the way they are. We're around Gemstone if you need us, we're always willing to help you anytime you have questions.
Good luck.

Truthfully, it absolutely is possible. I did a solo pure from level 0.
I used 1002 and brawling weapons until I got 1030. Once you get 1030, hunt swarming places. Make use 1013 and 1018.
My progression:
rats, hobs, mants/thraks, mercs/warriors, Anwyn, warfs, hisskra, Oteska, Flows, Temple, Tower, OTF.

I have to say, I fell asleep just thinking about your hunting progression. Aside from Anwyn and the Flows that has got to be the most boring hunting you could do at any given level.

And now he is like 3.5x cap

Back to the point on CMs old school rules (before the changes) dictated a 1x per... I'm really not caught up on the last 5 years of evolution in the game mechanics.
I understand the odd numbers statement but can you give a rough estimate of a training regime? .75 .5 ect?

I hunted shan, illoke, mages, and the rift too but got bored with them quickly; nothing in GS is challenging.
Unfortunately, neither Nelemar nor Bowels was open before I capped.

Just as an aside, what would you propose as "exciting" (lulz) hunting?

Oh you're right nothing is entirely exciting but a lot of the things you listed are essentially bigger versions of the giant rat. My preferred hunting areas for "a challenge" on my sorcerer included:
Wood Sprites/Bendiths/Ursians
Shan
Griffins Keen
Stronghold
Bowels
The Rift
All that said, if I want "exciting" at this point I pop into a grimswarm camp.

I thought the Keen was boring as hell, personally.
I've uphunted all those areas except the bowels (obviously) and I think they're fun to break up the monotony for few hunts but I was more interested in quick exp gain. My one regret is I didn't hunt Dark Stone.

1x+ if you can swing the points.
