Alfador

Alfador exclaims, "Merry Thrakmas!"

Silversoft says, "Ohoh."

Much to your horror, a devastating inferno of flaming rocks ignite the entire sky and smite the area!

Glimmin is brutally battered by the burning projectiles, taking 39 points of damage!
... 30 points of damage!
... 50 points of damage!
Permanently debilitating burns across stomach.
Demietria is brutally battered by the burning projectiles, taking 49 points of damage!
... 50 points of damage!
Demietria screams and falls to the ground grasping her mangled left leg!
... 50 points of damage!
Unbelievable heat melts Demietria's hand down to the wrist.
* Demietria drops dead at your feet!

Jeril is brutally battered by the burning projectiles, taking 114 points of damage!
... 40 points of damage!
... 35 points of damage!
Right arm scorched so bad it might as well be gone.
Silversoft is brutally battered by the burning projectiles, taking 109 points of damage!
... 50 points of damage!
A set of fitted silvery hued leathers stitched with a design of stars and moons partially deflects the onslaught of the fiery attack.
... 10 points of damage!
Burst of flames to right leg burns skin bright red.
Foxs is brutally battered by the burning projectiles, taking 120 points of damage!
... 45 points of damage!
* Foxs drops dead at your feet!

Foxs looks less calm and refreshed than a moment ago.
A gravelly voice from the crowd echoes, "Murder! Murder! Someone call for the Dwarven deputy!"

Regyy comes out of hiding.
Regyy is brutally battered by the burning projectiles, taking 60 points of damage!
... 35 points of damage!
* Regyy drops dead at your feet!

Jeril lets out a loud snarling growl and goes berserk!

Jeril shakes off the stun and begins frothing at the mouth!
The berserker's rage leaves Jeril's eyes.

Several flaming rocks burst from the sky and smite the area!

Jeril is struck by a burning projectile, taking 28 points of damage!
... 20 points of damage!
* Jeril drops dead at your feet!

Silversoft is struck by a burning projectile, taking 15 points of damage!
A set of fitted silvery hued leathers stitched with a design of stars and moons partially deflects the onslaught of the fiery attack.
... 3 points of damage!
... 25 points of damage!

Several flaming rocks burst from the sky and smite the area!

Glimmin is struck by a burning projectile, taking 27 points of damage!
... 10 points of damage!
... 20 points of damage!
Silversoft is struck by a burning projectile, taking 23 points of damage!
* Silversoft drops dead at your feet!

Glimmin stands up.
Glimmin just went south.
A warm glow begins to emanate from Jeril's body.

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Well now..."

The ghostly voice of Silversoft says, "Oh nice."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly asks, "What was that person's name?"

Several flaming rocks burst from the sky and smite the area!

The ghostly voice of Silversoft says, "Alfador."

The ghostly voice of Foxs softly says, "Now.. I'm really pissed."

Several flaming meteors light the nearby sky!

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Becuase he's got some explaining to do."

Several flaming meteors light the nearby sky!

Several flaming meteors light the nearby sky!

Renowned Lady Sraven just arrived.
Several flaming rocks burst from the sky and smite the area!

The ghostly voice of Jeril says, "Hullo."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Rory."

Sraven asks, "Who need kept?"

Several flaming rocks burst from the sky and smite the area!

The ghostly voice of Foxs softly says, "I do."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "We all do."

Sraven appears to be focusing her thoughts while chanting softly...

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly asks, "Get foxs up first Raery?"

The ghostly voice of Foxs softly says, "I'm going to need another orb."

Raervin asks, "I think he did it on purpose..ya think?"

The ghostly voice of Jeril says, "Aye."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Darn im satureted too."

Raervin chuckles.

The ghostly voice of Regyy says, "I will hunt him down."

Xrothgar asks, "What happened?"

The ghostly voice of Jeril says, "Going to be a lynching."

The ghostly voice of Jeril says, "Some idiot meteorswarmed the place."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "He better be sitting cozy in the lounge."

Raervin says, "The deputy is looking for him."

Glimmin grumpily says, "That was bad."

Raervin says, "The deputy is looking for him."

Raervin says, "Alfador cast..storm."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "And didnt mention it."

Speaking to Demietria, Glimmin says, "I think it was intentional."

The ghostly voice of Jeril says, "Aye, as do I."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Intentional or not..."

Sereg asks, "What.. happened?"

Foxs softly says, "Great.. great this is perfect."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "He's as good as dead."

The ghostly voice of Regyy says, "This being my island."

The ghostly voice of Regyy says, "Let me take the lead here."

Nordred asks, "What went on here?"

The ghostly voice of Jeril says, "An idiot meteorswarms the place."

Speaking to Nordred, Glimmin says, "Meteors fell from tha sky."

Anmut says, "Ah."

Nordred says, "And i missed it."

Speaking softly to Nordred, Foxs says, "A dead man walking is what happened."

Raervin says, "Alfador."

Zzentar recites:

"Anmut went on a killing spree"

Speaking to Nordred, Anmut says, "Be glad you were not here."

Foxs softly says, "I still need healing."

The ghostly laughter of Jeril echoes through the room, sending a shiver down your spine.

Nordred says, "Seems i got lucky all around."

Brimzstone asks, "Warcamp?"

Speaking to Brimzstone, Anmut exclaims, "Looks like it!"

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Im gonna need a orb."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Im not getting up without one."

Foxs softly says, "And I was just risen."

Speaking to Jeril, Sereg says, "This should hurt."

Foxs softly says, "I am so pissed right now."

Zzentar asks, "Was the meteors on purpose or an accident?"

Sereg slowly empties his lungs.

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "On purpose."

Raervin says, "On purpose."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "He cast it and went east."

Raervin says, "He said Merry thrakmas."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly asks, "He did?"

Foxs softly says, "Yelling out.."

Jeril says, "Aye."

Jeril nods to Demietria.

Foxs softly says, "Merry Thrakmas."

The ghostly voice of Demietria quietly says, "Oh that fool."

Foxs softly says, "Some crap."

Zzentar says, "Stupid to make enemies in this town."

[Dragonspine and Krodera]
The street widens into a circular plaza several hundred feet across. Dwarves and giantmen lounge on stone benches by a massive granite fountain in the center. The burbling of the waters, the low mumblings of the dwarves and the booming laughter of the giants somehow blend together into a vibrant harmony. You also see some cactacae spine, the Pogy disk, a woodland wolverine, a silver lockpick, a pristine hulking giant statue, a lava tube and a wrought iron sign.
Also here: Demietria, Jaqen, Pogy, Renowned Lady Sraven, Saihprom, Nuc who is sitting, Bumpur

You sit down.

Demietria traces a sign that contorts in the air while she forcefully incants a dark invocation...

Demietria gestures into the air.
Nothing happens.

A nearby goodwife screams, "Endangering public safety!".

s>
Pogy shrieks!
s>
Jaqen winces.
s>
Sraven chuckles.
s>
Pogy squeakily exclaims, "It wasn't me!"
s>
Demietria just left.

SEND[Andraste] Might want to move off to a quiet room

s>
Alfador just appeared.
You feel yourself being pulled away...
[Consultation Lounge]
The cozy surroundings of this simple conference room provide a much-welcomed respite from the chaos just outside its walls. You notice several plush chairs arranged casually around the room in a comfortable grouping.
Obvious exits: none
s>
Low thunder rumbles off in the distance, getting closer with each clap. As it appears to crash overhead, a sudden lightning bolt stabs at the ground with a mighty *BOOM*! As your vision clears, you see GameMaster Andraste standing there.

You say, "Totally off topic, there is something wrong with the consultation lounge script."
s>
Andraste says, "Feel free to bug it."
s>
Andraste asks, "Any questions about policy?"

You say, "When I get snatched here, it says "Alfador just appeared" then the next line is "you feel yourself..."."

You say, "Nope."
s>
Andraste asks, "So you're clear on the whole consent for conflict issue?"

You ask, "Should I do a bug room for that?"
s>
Andraste arches one eyebrow at you in an expression of sardonic amusement.

You say, "Yes."
s>
Andraste says, "Sure."
s>
Andraste asks, "You also get that regardless of who is running any of your characters on any of your accounts, that you are ultimately responsible for their actions here?"
s>
Andraste asks, "And the benefactor of the consequences?"

You ask, "Benefactor? I am going to get something good for this?"
s>
Andraste chuckles.
s>
Andraste says, "I'm not sure that word only means beneficial in a good way."
s>
Andraste winks at you.

You say, "Point of view I guess."
s>
Andraste says, "At least not the way I'm using it."
s>
Andraste says, "So here's the deal, Alfador..."

You listen carefully to Andraste.
s>
Andraste says, "One, the logging out after the SEND asking to chat... that can be considered GMA, so that's probably not a good strategy for you and/or your buddies to do."
s>
Andraste says, "Game Mechanics Abuse."

You say, "Ah, was about to ask."

You ask, "Are we considering it GMA?"
s>
Andraste says, "Two, you might want to rethink who was operating Alfador that night... because whoever was running him and cast Meteor Storm that evening, had Xxxxxxxx, Sartorus, AND your main logged in."
s>
Andraste says, "And logged them all out around the same time."
s>
Andraste says, "Nope, not GMA... we're going for item three here..."

You say, "Well, I do have a log-off script, that waits for full mana after hunts. But, I guess that could be considered AFK."

You nod.

You exclaim, "Ooo. Door number 3!"
s>
Andraste says, "Well, you said that no one else has access to him, so either it was you, or someone does have access to him."
s>
Andraste says, "Which is easy enough for me to have the office verify."

You say, "Well, they might have from the last EG...not sure if I changed the password back or not."

You say, "Will check when we are done here."
s>
Andraste says, "I'd suggest you get out of the habit of sharing passwords and accounts, if you want to continue to game here..."
s>
Andraste says, "Because, no, not a GMA warning..."
s>

Alfador, this is your SECOND official warning, that Disruptive Behavior is against GemStone IV policy. Further warnings could result in your being temporarily locked out of the game.

You can also learn more about GemStone IV policies online, by typing POLICY while in the game or by visiting http://www.play.net/gs4/gamepolicy.asp.

************************************************** ***********

s>
Andraste says, "A disruptive behavior warning."

You ask, "Interesting, what was the first?"

You say, "That said second."
s>
Andraste says, "Scripting."

You say, "Really? Oh, wait...I remember now. Nevermind."

You blush a nice shade of light pink.
s>
Andraste says, "The fact that this activity has occurred twice within 4 months is disconcerting."
s>
Andraste says, "Your attitude about it and how it violates policy is a bit disconcerting as well."

You ask, "He metored within the past four months too?"

You ask, "Or was that scripting thing 4 months ago?"
s>
Andraste says, "He's done this twice."

You say, "Ooo."

You ask, "Is there really any time when Meteor Swarm is a good idea though, seriously?"

You say, "It kinda is like the apple in the garden of Eden you know."
s>
Andraste says, "Let's finish discussing the real issue here."

You nod.
s>
Andraste says, "Many people manage to avoid that temptation, especially given Policy on disruptive behavior and unconsented/unwarranted PvP, too."
s>
Andraste says, "You have characters that have a much less stellar record than your main."

You say, "I can resist just about anything, except temptation."

You say, "You get what you pay for."

Andraste says, "Some of them have serious warnings, one I believe has a pretty serious lockout."

You ask, "Xxxxxxxx?"
s>
Andraste says, "Unfortunately, those do have some merit when considering serious account issues."

You say, "I know of no lockout."
s>
Andraste says, "The hazards of buying characters without fully checking into their past reputations."

You ask, "Which one had the lockout?"
s>
Andraste says, "I do believe it was Xxxxxxxx."

You say, "Figures."

You shrug.
s>
Andraste says, "The actions of Christmas eve could probably be enough, given your attitude when we first started chatting..."

You ask, "My "you have to admit it was funny" attitude?"
s>
Andraste says, "And the previous similar action several months ago..."
s>
Andraste says, "And previous character history on accounts... it might have been enough for me to request another lockout."

You ask, "My "you have to admit it was funny" attitude?"
s>
Andraste says, "That's one factor."

You say, "Well, just so we are clear I would like you to list the others so I don't do them again."

You say, "Not much point in pointing out my attitude if we don't itemize."

You say, "Can't learn that way."
s>
Andraste says, "So we stand here with you receiving an official warning, and notice that any violation of policy again could likely lead to that lockout..."
s>
Andraste says, "I don't really think you need me to go into detail about your lack of concern for what others do on your accounts and how that might affect the game, other players, or your continued ability to play here."
s>
Andraste says, "Consider yourself on notice that one more trespass could result in at least a 30-day vacation, if not a 60-day one."

You say, "You said my attitude at the beginning of our chat may have warrented a request for lockout. That is pretty serious and I would like to be clear on what I said/did that made you think this so that I am sure not to do them again."

You ask, "Leaving me to guess, wonder, or assume is a tad dangerous, given the potential of a lockout don't you think?"
s>
Andraste asks, "I think I just did explain it, even though I said you probably don't really need me to, hmm?"
s>
Andraste says, "Your lack of concern for what others do on your accounts."

You say, "Andraste, a lot of things are lost in translation via text, I am just trying to get everything as clear as glass."
s>
Andraste says, "How their actions affect the game, other players, or your continued ability to play here, especially given you are ultimately the responsible party, despite who was operating them."
s>
Andraste says, "Maybe I haven't been clear..."

You ask, "So, the part at the beginning of our conversation where I said "you have to admit it was funny" (or something to that effect) was out of line?"
s>
Andraste says, "We consider what happened a pretty serious policy violation."
s>
Andraste says, "That you don't seem to, is a concern."
s>
Andraste says, "That this is the second time this particular policy violation has occurred in the last few months, makes it supremely serious."

You say, "Impersonation a GM (you if I recall) via AIM and convincing someone to hand over a 10x weapon (happend to Xxxxxxxx) is a pretty serious violation in my opinion."

You say, "A random meteor swarm as a joke, I see much lower down the ladder."

You say, "Not saying it is not against policy, just saying it had a comical aspect."
s>
Andraste shakes her head.
s>
Andraste asks, "Do you think the people that got killed think it was comical?"

You say, "A couple did."

You say, "They told me so."
s>
Andraste asks, "Do you think if there was a new player trying out the game and it was his first night, he would think that was comical?"

You say, "New players would not be on Teras."
s>
Andraste says, "It's more the issue, not where it happened."

You say, "The first time I got MS'ed I laughed myself into a coughing fit."

You say, "The messaging is hilarious."
s>
Andraste says, "We digress, since, it's still against policy to engage in disruptive behavior or otherwise attack those weaker or unsuspecting and unconsenting."

You say, "Not trying to convince you otherwise."
s>
Andraste says, "And regardless of whether you or others find it hilarious."

You say, "Just saying that from certain perspectives it is funny, even to 'some' of the victims."
s>
Andraste says, "Which doesn't negate the seriousness of the action or the fact that it's a policy violation."

You say, "Not saying it does."
s>
Andraste says, "That's the point you seem to be missing."

You say, "I am not missing the point."

Andraste says, "At this point I'm wondering if my choice to just issue a warning is going to be sufficient."
s>
You say, "I realize that there is a violaiton of policy by killing someone without asking them if I can first."

You say, "Sufficient for what? I am not disagreeing with you here."
s>
Andraste says, "Sufficient to convince me that it's not going to occur again."

You bury your face in your hands.

You ask, "That I am never going to cast Meteor Swarm again?"

You recite:

"I, Alfador, do promise
I will never again cast Meteor Swarm
In a populated area
without first getting the express concent
Of everyone in the area
As well as warning others via the amunet and yelling
That a I am about to do so"

You ask, "Happy?"
s>
Andraste says, "Yelling on the amunet is no guarantee you can reach 100% of the people in the area."

You ask, "Is there anything else I can do?"

You ask, "Am I not allowed to cast it at all, even in hunting areas?"
s>
Andraste says, "Yep, keep your nose clean and rethink sharing those accounts, if your friends can't operate within the bound of policy."
s>
Andraste says, "I'd suggest you consult older wizards about the appropriate use of the spell when hunting, or even post on the forums and let the Wizard guru answer that."
s>
Andraste waves to you.

You say, "Wait."

You say, "I need a direct answer from you, since you are my judge here."

You ask, "If I cast Meteor Swarm in a hunting area, outside of town, am I going to get pulled back in here?"

You say, "I need clarification so that I do not unknowingly violate policy."
s>
Andraste says, "And my answer is ask in a forum where the Wizard guru can give you an answer, if you don't think you can use the spell appropriate with good common sense and with policy in mind."

You say, "You have made it quite clear that this is serious business."
s>
Andraste says, "You know what policy is."
s>
Andraste says, "You know what the spell does."

You say, "I obviously do not fully understand the conditions of my warning then."

You say, "And as a result I want further clarification."
s>
Andraste says, "Don't violate policy."

You ask, "Can I cast the spell while hunting?"

You say, "You are threatening to lock me out if I do something again."
s>
Andraste says, "Ask on the forums for advice on how to safely use it."

You say, "I need you to be clear on what will constitute such."

You say, "The forums are not you, you have laid this down."
s>
Andraste says, "The lockout is with regard to violating policy, not cast the spell."

You say, "I need to know YOUR thoughts on this."
s>
Andraste waves to you.

You say, "Does casting Meteor Swarm..."

You say, "Wait."

The world grows blurry and indistinct. After a moment everything becomes clear again. Looking about, you see...
[Krodera Street]
There is an enormous hole in the middle of this cobblestone street, wide enough to swallow a small hill and deep enough that you can't see the bottom. The dwarves who wander by ignore it, walking around the edges on their way. A small wooden booth sits near the edge of the crater. You also see a rectangular portal with strange mists slowly swirling across the face in a smooth hypnotic pattern and a shabby hovel.

[Violetleaf Hall, Library]
Overflowing mahogany bookshelves stretch from floor to ceiling, lining almost every inch of the walls. A distressed leather couch rests before a fireplace wedged between the shelves, while matching overstuffed leather chairs dot the room. Wet footprints trail from a small oak door in the northern wall across a patterned rosewood floor to a tall lectern in the corner. Starlight filters through a skylight, and flickering lamps cast shadows on the walls. An ogival arch leads into the hallway. You also see a rose-carved stone amphora.

More of the same.

If you cast it you could be locked out. No we won't tell you when it is okay to cast it. If you are on the amunet, yelling and in a hunting area and cast it you may still be pulled. If you want answers start a discussion on the forums and get advice from other wizards.

Kills me. Ask other players what I should do, but the GMs who make the decision as to what is and is not acceptable won't comment.

What you should do is gather up 10-15 or so high-level wizards and set a time in advance where you all meteor swarm all the most public gathering places in Elanthia at the same time. Just as a one-time kind of protest against this BS. Coordinate so all the casts happen at the same time. I think it would be kind of epic. And they wouldn't ban 15 accounts would they?

Gelston
12-31-2009, 02:56 PM
They'd probably officially warn 15 accounts and lockout some of the more known troublemakers involved.

I think Alfador was a cocknozzle in that log.

He knew it was coming before he did it, as everyone does.

While I agree that the whole mass spell will get you banned is kind of retarded, since they coded it that way, it hasnt changed in years, and wont change.

I'm surprised you didnt get banned Alfador.

But regardless, I fully applaud the MS'ing of any public place. I used to MS outside the Teras gates and hide inside and wait for people to get caught in it. :)

Which is as gay as a GM can possibly be. If people aren't complaining, and you're not doing something like abusing a bug, who the fuck are they to get involved?

Andraste is notorious for that shit too. Probably because she fails at RL.

Regyy gestures at Alfador.

Dozens of long thorns suddenly grow out from the ground underneath Alfador! Several of the thorns jab into him!
... hits for 38 points of damage!
... 40 points of damage!
Strike punctures thigh and shatters femur!
Alfador screams and falls to the ground grasping his mangled right leg!
He is stunned!
... hits for 39 points of damage!
... 30 points of damage!
Well aimed strike shatters bone in right arm!
... hits for 22 points of damage!
... 40 points of damage!
Strike to abdomen skewers Alfador quite nicely!

* Alfador drops dead at your feet!

Alfador seems a bit less imposing.

An agitated dwarf bounds off muttering, "Regyy has committed murder!"

sJ>
* Alfador just bit the dust!
sJ>
Regyy nods.
sJ>

The Dwarven deputy ambles in, with a number of axe-wielding dwarves behind him.

With great ease, the Dwarven deputy grabs Regyy and shackles his wrists.

"There you are! I got a tip that I'd find you here," says the Dwarven deputy.
The Dwarven deputy then drags him off.

DEAD>report Regyy just killed me at the statue without asking me for concent for PvP

SEND[Talisker] Considering you meteor-swarmed on Christmas Eve and killed him in the process, I think he had that one coming. However, you're free to follow up with an ASSIST and give information about the incident to the Game Host.

DEAD>report so that gives him leave from the Policy?

SEND[Talisker] It does, if you instigated it, which you did. After this, however, different story.

s>report Oh, so a retaliation does not require one to ask for consent for PvP?

SEND[Talisker] Please ASSIST with questions regarding policy.

s>report seems like a simple enough question

What happened to the "you have to retaliate RIGHT AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OR U VIOLATE POLICY!!!!1" shit they used to say about pvp?

Wish they'd make up their minds on what they want their rules to be.

Simu just gets it in their heads to dislike certain characters, and then change policy just on a whim to the detriment of that character. They even formulated it in their HMA policy, which is completely arbitrary and can be applied to anyone for almost anything.

IIRC, anytime someone casts MS in a town all the GMs get a message. I could be wrong, it's either that, or anytime someone casts MS at all.

Regardless, how is any of that customer service in the most extreme definition? Basically telling a paying customer to fuck off? Post on the boards? Coming from the authorities of the game. How come no one will just come out and say it's a dated spell and falls outside of current policies regading PvP, won't get fixed in your lifetime and you shouldn't use it or we'll ban you for using a spell implemented like 15 years ago that is buggy and hasn't changed since then.

I never got a send or a warn when I MS'd in sand devils and someone died.. as long as I tried to help out I dont think it mattered.

So why don't you get banned already and quit bitching and moaning about policies that we all know change on a whim. Depending on the GM of the moment it's very doubtful you will get the same answer twice. If I was Reggy I would kill you one more time because it appears you didn't receive the message he sent.

Did the five people you killed report you?

You should get a few pieces of that paper you can WHISPER messages into as written consent from a few people who will volunteer to lie around as you MS. I do feel, however, that you have to be OOG for your meteor swarm cry, so that could be tricky. Maybe yell something like, "GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!!!!!!!!" next time
