With hte newer versions of aim you can do this weird thing i guess that puts a picture into your IM window on the left side, this shit is really annoying and unnecessary, is there a way i can disable it?

He's talking about AIM Expressions or whatever where it makes the window incredibly stupider than usual.

Why are you not using Gaim?

If you goto your aim preferences and goto aim expressions do you have the box checked or unchecked in the area under incoming expressions?

My suggestion:

Try Gaim
then
Try Trillian
then
Come back and thank me and tell Bob Gaim sucks.

You PAID for an p2p software? Ugh.

I paid for Trillian too and I thought it was worth it. Lots more features and it's a bit more stable than the free version (people at work are always reinstalling it and I never need to) and I use almost all the chat types so I can't really go back to just AIM since we use MSN at work.

Oh sure! I'd LOVE to have the full program. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay them for something that should be free anyway.

 I'm one of those that doesn't have a problem paying for quality, even for something that most have for free.

Same concept as I pay for some Sim sites to download really nice objects. I could go to the free sites, but the paid ones have better quality items and tools that I could really use.

I suppose the same can be said about Gemstone. I don't have a problem paying them over $30 a month for a game that even though may have its flaws, still find it to be one of the better roleplaying text games I've played.

Yes, I agree with some of that. But with something like an p2p software..just put a 1 time pop up every time its turned on. Bam, they make more money offa that then the $20 one time fee.
