Which is better? The classic South Park, or the "new" upstart Family Guy.....the choice is yours.

I go with South Park. Much more blatantly offensive and abrasive.

I too went with South Park. Family guy was unbelievable when it first came out. Seth MacFarlane has an unbelievable voice, and their music is really good. The problem is that some of the jokes are getting predictable, and Brian became a little lib/douche "preachy", which kind of turns me off. South Park has always stayed true to its crude profanity laced, insult-everyone-at-all-costs based humor. Lately, some of their episodes have been utterly brilliant as well. This is the only series to get FUNNIER as the series went on. Simpsons and Family guy have been on the decline. The last 7 episodes have been hilarious.

I haven't watched South Park all year. I thought it was being gay last season so I didn't bother.

With DVR one doesn't have to be better than the other, I watch both. If I had to pick I'd say southpark is better, one of the family guy jokes is that they are predictable, and that they stretch jokes out for too long, it's supposed to be funny that they're doing it because they know they're doing it. It gets tiring though.

South Park is also very topical, I'm sure it won't be long before there is an episode with Tiger.

South Park edges out Family Guy for being consistently funny, but when Family guy is on point, it can be just about the funniest thing on the air.

I fully agree w/ the assessment that SP is consistently funny, but I forgot about the Star Wars Family Guys... so I'll say that individual family guys are indeed better than individual south parks. (Yeah, even the LotR SP doesn't outdo blue harvest).

South Park is old and tired. They may try to keep up with current events, but it's the same old hacks over and over again, just new targets. Sometimes that's true too with Family Guy though. The flashback scenes are funny sometimes, but sometimes it just flat out isn't. I pick Familly Guy though for sure.

Hell, if I want a good comedy on TV right now I watch Community.

Is that the one with Chevy Chase? Holy hell, that show is unwatchable.

South Park by a mile. I couldn't even watch Family Guy after I found out it was written by Manatees in a tank.

That's odd I thought that would be big news? Hmm it seems to be lacking a certain ornithological piece. Oh have you not heard? It was my understanding that everyone has heard?

not sure to be honest though. I watch them both and they both have their place.
In terms of raunchiness...

ATHF > Southpark > Family Guy > Simpsons

ATHF can just get downright nasty sometimes.

ATHF, Robot Chicken and the Simpsons all rule in their own respect.

OH and Metalocalypse is pretty damn good as well.

It's already been said, but when Family Guy is ON, they're better.

I like South Park, but after the first four seasons or so, it fizzled out for me. I still watch occasionally (the WoW ep was great), but I'll ALWAYS watch a new Family Guy, even if they're sometimes more miss than hit.

Also, Community is great. I hope it gets another season.

I'd say: American Dad > South Park > Family Guy.

South Park *can* be incredibly biting social commentary or genuinely hilarious humor.. or utter, absolute garbage. The worst episode of recent times probably being the one where they focused on Britney Spears having her head blown off, but walking around for twenty minutes. They seriously need to know when to drop a joke.

Family Guy started off really funny, but once they came back from cancellation, they focused way, way too much on the cultural references. They've recently made a decent comeback, though. The episode where Stewie and Brian enter the random universes this season was *hilarious*. They've toned down the random cultural references a lot.

American Dad, however (post season 1) I consistently find the funniest.
