Houston, TX. Snow Storm Warning. We have been getting a light snow all day. 3 to 5 inches is the estimate but I dont see it sticking on the ground any time soon. This is the second year in a row snow has fallen in our city.
So people are out acting like dumbasses. I saw a lady walking a dog in the equivalent of an arctic parka. Schools/businesses closing early. People driving slower than me (weird) and one guy standing on a corner selling papers who appeared to be dodging the snow. Thats right. Snow is dodgable. Enter me in a constant state of amusement saying things like RUH ROH BETTER PUT MY TIRE CHAINS ON. Also I'M SO GLAD MY CAR IS WINTERIZED NOW I WILL SURVIVE THE WINTERZ.
Temperature is 40 above. It feels nice and pleasant. I'm wearing a long sleeve t shirt and jogger shorts. I might pull out all my pretty layered outfits if it freezes tonight. Speaking of which, I am the proud mommy of 8 Hybrid Moonglow New Orleans Sanseveria that I have to bring in for the night because it might freeze...brb

Makes me think of when people from Florida come up to MA and VT for ski trips and go to the store dressed like they're going hiking in Antarctica.

I was expecting something more interesting than just a plant when I googled "8 Hybrid Moonglow New Orleans Sanseveria".

That's Texas for you. I recall everything shutting down like it was the endz of teh worldz (... of warcraft) whenever it snowed. There'd be an inch on the ground and people couldn't get out of their driveways.

I enjoyed the snow. Snow in Houston is not something you can expect with any regularity here. (At one point in the past few decades, I think we went 13 years without snow.) I was in Philadelphia for college, so I've seen way more snow than this.
What was really funny to me was that all these European airlines canceled their flights out of Houston today, but the Middle Eastern airlines didn't. Made no sense whatsoever.

We had the brief snowfall on Christmas eve a few years back - that was pretty cool. The heaviest we've had I believe was back in the mid 70's IIRC.
The airlines (and Hobby) shutting down was stupidly funny. I'm still trying to decide if it was due to a lack of de-icing equipment or if the airlines simply forgot they fly into Denver or to the northern cities along the coasts and mid-west which has snow most of the winter.

Not only do I understand your uberfadish 'Gore' theory I rejected it for actual science some time ago. <Cause/Effect> I volunteer once a month at Galveston to study the increasing numbers of harmful plankton as a result of rising ocean climates. But I'm guessing facts are irrelevant to you and you more have a problem with either me and/or women in rubber medusa costumes. In that case I object to your noodles definition of confrontation and challenge you to a duel. Lightsabers. You. Me. Outerspace. Now.
Take that you unbeliever!
