Can someone help me?

I'm looking for one of those devices that has a lock, unlock, and maybe a trunk button on it for your car. My wife had one with her Honda CRV, but she broke it last week. I want to get one for Christmas, but I can't figure out what the hell they are called.

Does anyone know how much they cost or when I can get one? How do you make them work with a specific car, anyway?

They're called key fobs. Not sure about the spelling. Mine comes from the dealership as does my fiances. You might have to go to Honda and order one for the vehicle and you know how dealerships can be with prices.

I did a quick google search and it looks like some fobs run like $200-$300 which is about what I remember. But in this market, you might be able to negotiate the price down at the dealership. Worth a try. Also, I think it probably depends what year the car is. The newer, the more expensive the fob. But that's my laymans guess.

Car remote starter. They range from $60 to $100. Can get one at most auto stores. Installation can be about $100 as well. Sometimes you can get a kit and installation for a discounted price.

If you're not looking for an alarm system too, it can be even cheaper.

Holy piss, this says one for a Honda CRV is over $50! Is that what you paid? That's crazy! You can buy an automatic CAR STARTER device for that much! All I want is one to lock the damn car! Cripes.

Damn. Yeah, that's what I just saw. I don't need an alarm, though. I wasn't expecting that much money for one, however.

Now I'm pissed that she broke it. She's pregnant, and she claims my 1 year and 3 month old son KICKED the car door and it slammed in her face. In spite, she threw the keys on the ground and it smashed. STUPID. My son must have a foot of steel to kick a car door that hard/fast into her face.

A key fob can also be a lot of other things too.

Depending on the car a key fob can be 20 bucks or up to like 300 bucks for the microchipped ones. Buy it off of ebay. On a lot of models you can program it yourself, some you have to take to the dealer to get the codes put in. Usually it runs about 100 bucks just for the programming. Like I said, it all depends on the make, model, and year.

No doubt. But that is likely what she broke...her Honda issued key fob. It all depends upon what honda charges for fobs. My fiancee has a Lexus and she paid like $200 for it. I'm sure its worse at the German car companies, but I guess Honda might be cheaper.

Don't let them charge you to program it either. It's pretty easy to do yourself.

I've heard that they are coming out with a new thing to lock/unlock cars. It's called a key, and you can get one made at True Value for 4 bucks.

Touche. HOWEVER, Honda CRV's seem to be wank on the cob. When you push the lock button on the inside, all the doors lock EXCEPT the driver's door (I've never seen this before, but perhaps it's standard). So, she ALWAYS has to use the key to lock her door.

She is also pregnant, remember. Pregnancy amnesia is very evident. I don't want her forgetting to lock the car and us getting jacked.

Needless to say, pushing a button twice as opposed to remembering to hit the lock button inside the car and THEN physically lock her own door... well, I'd rather take the easy route.

Check your manual. I'm going to blindly assume that there is a lock setting that you just haven't changed. I don't own a Honda but there are 4 different configurations for how my car handles locking itself.

Unfortunately, I cannot do this. My dumbass wife (whom I didn't know at the time she purchased this car), got boned hard on the deal.

She paid $18,000 for this 2004 piece of shit. The dealership promised to send her an extra set of keys AND the manual in the mail -- she never received either. She bought this car in 2007 and she still has not received them. She's called every now and again and they never return her calls.

Her dad is friends with the owner of this shit hole, though. I wonder if I can get that second set of keys they promised with an extra fob on it.

Your car manual.

Edit: You can get it for free, but a lot of sites will ask for cash. I have my 2004 Honda civic manual and 2005 Nisson Sentra manuals in pdf form.

There's an easy way to lock the car doors on Honda's. I do it all the time out of habit whenever I get out of the car. When you open the driver's door from the inside, hold the handle out still and press down the automatic all door lock right beside the handle. It'll lock all the doors on the car. and when you close the driver's door it won't unlock. A lot of Honda's if you manually press down the non-auto door lock on the door then it just unlocks when the door closes. So that's why you have to use the auto one.

Yes. She was diagnosed with Endometriosis and they told us we would never have kids again.

...So naturally, she wanted at least one more. I was excited, because this meant we would actually have sex.

Just my luck, however, the very first time we had sex without a condom/birth control, she got pregnant.

My first son is 15 months old at the moment.

Ah Irish twins.

You wouldn't believe it. She went for her first ultrasound on Monday, and the doctor thinks there may be twins.

She's not far enough along yet to tell for sure. It could just be a fibroid from her Endometriosis, but the doctor said be on guard.

My intelligence landed me a $550,000 house and 55 acres of land.

My looks (well, I would like to think, at least) landed me a hot wife.

Pussy, however, you win on. I get none of this.

Haha. She probably wouldn't care. Well, she might mind that I post pictures of her some times, but other than that. I could probably get her to make an account here if I asked her. She's not very computer savvy, though.

I don't know if your wissy tone of text is from the fact that I have a Confederate flag as my avatar and you're black, or if it stems from the fact that someone already told me this a few days ago and you are trying to hide the fact that you can't read very well by using sarcasm.

EITHER WAY SIR, I APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE.

But you can't figure out how to replace keyless entry and are bitching at a $50 price tag for it?

Stupid. I've only been out of school for a year and a half -- we don't make a million dollar salary, you know. We actually cheapened the cost of the house by having Amish people build it for nearly half the cost of what the construction people quoted us for.

Needless to say, that took a lot out of my wallet. With student loans factored in as well, $50 can be a lot. My wife of all people knows that I'm a stickler when it comes to spending money. Of course, I just bought her a DSLR camera for Christmas, so I'm never going to hear the end of this one.

Eh just because you have money doesn't mean you need to throw it away. Most rich people who worked for it, do it by also being thrifty and not buying stupid expensive stuff they don't need. And haggling for anything that they can. Etc..

What now, Anticor! You'd make a terrible rich person! Hoho.

I agree with AD, though.

Now that I think about it, Anticor, I think you live the closest to me. You should come check out my house.

That still doesn't answer the first part of the issue where you couldn't figure out what a keyless entry was/is :)

I'm reminded of Bush Sr. and checkout scanners.

For the keyfob I'd suggest getting the dick that sold it to y'all to get you a keyfob at dealer cost and with free install. It's the least he can do for not giving you a manual.

Act like you might buy another car and in this economy he may even offer to blow you.

The first issue is when he couldn't produce his voting ID.

The second issue is when he said his wife never has sex with him.

The third issue is that he weighs almost as much as Miley Cyrus.

The fourth issue is his stupid ass sword.

Fuck it this could take too long.
