View Full Version : Perception?

Should I lower leveled wizard train in it?

I have a level 20 wizard and spare MTPs are very rare, but was wondering if perception is at all really needed for things, other than the obvious stuff it does for every other profession...

perception as a wizard allows you to see what spells you are wearing and also aids a little in enchant(i think). 24 ranks is considered the minimum for wizards in GS4.

It's personal preference. Having perception is something I wanted so I 1x in it. I think it adds to my skinning and it's just a cheap skill to pickup. Hell it's rumored to do alot of things does it help skinning, do you get richer searches from critters, can you see thieves? Who the hell knows. Get it if you feel like it but I don't think it will make or break a wizard.

I would assume that you need some perception for enchanting though.

Alright, thanks... I'll start to pick some up as my levels get greater...

oh and about helping with enchanting. this was under the topic Enchant Item (925) Document. about myths

Posted by GS4-Kitrina on 3/1/04:

Down with myths

1. No amulet on - MYTH
2. No familiar - FACT. Having a familiar present actually helps. If you have a familiar, but it's not with you when you enchant, it hurts.
3. Perception helps - MYTH
4. 404 may provide a bonus - MYTH
5. The caster should have no spells on, or just strength (comes from the NPC mana binding ceremony at the landing guild) - MYTH
6. The item should be held in the right hand - MYTH
7. You should be in offensive stance - MYTH
8. You should kneel, or alternately you should stand (I do all mine standing) - MYTH
9. 405 may provide false ready messages, and all major projects should be checked by pouring an enchant potion on the item - MYTH

Things that can hurt your enchant are:

Low health, injuries, low spirit, encumbrance, the type of material of the item, having critters present, having non-wizards present.

Thanks to GM Nitid for looking all this up for me!

The reason I 1x in Perception is for popping boxes. I've heard that it helps 416/Piercing Gaze spot traps, and it may help with 408/Disarm.

:D

Bah. Use rapidfire and piercing gaze 10 times.

If you're not inefficiency in practice, you aren't a true wizard!
