Funny all the food references in there. Nice AS BTW 517 for a Dwarf is amazing. Wish the splash did more than 25 damage.

Some did, had some 30s and 35s on some of the other hits, but less critters in the room, so less splashes overall, so I didn't post them. Even with the low damage though, it is very good at stunning, basically every stunnable critter was stunned, and every once in awhile you get lucky and even get a crit kill. Of course when underhunting the splashes are ridiculous, also on trolls or cold stuff.

Just wait until I can put +10 SA +10 dex on my badge (currently plus to neither) 537 bolt AS. Then if I get a fixstat I can get another 6 from dex, for 543. And then maybe, one day, if we get a 700s AS boosted like we should have, 550+, 625 with 117.

Yes, a sorcerer casting a minor circle spell, for which he overpaid on a ton of lore for, with a ton of enhancives, and with the help of a major elemental spell, a paladin spell, a cleric spell, and two major spiritual spells, can, indeed, throw a mean bolt.

If you think this mutant overinvested sorcerer is impressive with a ball spell, you should see what an average wizard can do.

What the hell do you need an AS boosting spell in the 700's circle for... that's what 425 is for, dipshit! (And 'sides, aren't all of the offensive 700 spells CS-based?!)

1. There will be an AS based spell in the 700s after the sorcerer review sometime in 2013. And of course, we already have 111 and 118.

2. Of all the pures we have the lowest self cast AS.

It isn't so much being last, as it is the gap. Plus, we're last in most things.

Believe me, we don't want to be best, we'd be happy just being tied in third, or heck, still fourth but just not as bad.

Afterall, it isn't like the CS system where critter defenses change based on who is casting.

Until 425 becomes easily accessible, sorcerer's are not last in bolt AS when taking the system as a whole.

It's easy for a sorcerer to get 307 (+5/+15), 211, and 215.

It's not so easy for a cleric to get 425.

Also, 425 and 215 give the same bonus so that balances them out and makes it just a matter of getting 307 and 211 which is as hard as buying a potion from the clerics shop and getting a cleric to imbed 307 or hunting with them.

You use the fire to kind of 'boil' the elemental, changing their state of matter from water to steam. They also get really slow when you use cold on them. Since they're water elementals and not steam or ice elementals, this is bad for them. At least thats how I worked through it in my head.

I didn't want to take 'training' into account, but what Danical says is completely correct. In the 720 thread, it's listed that the optimum spell training for a sorcerer is 77 Minor Elemental ranks. That means they get +50 AS from 425.

Every 10 ranks of Blessings Lore increases the AS bonus from 215 by 1. The 'average' blessings lore, IMO, for a cleric is 65 so that's a +6 increase.

However.. all that is completely nullified by getting a cleric to imbed 211 into a gem, buying a pure potion from cleric shops, getting vials while hunting a character through wind wraiths, casting 211 from an infused scroll, or hunting with a cleric who has the mana and lore training to sustain 211 through the hunt.

If you want to compare training to training.. a cleric beats a sorcerer by 25 AS (that's with 200 ranks in Blessings Lore).

If you want to look at it realistically.. sorcerers can quite easily beat what a cleric can do.

Ultimately, the issue though is not AS. The issue is SPELLS TO USE.

Good job. You've accurately proven clerics are 3rd place in bolts, just edging out the 4th place sorcerers.

Of course, there are 4 pure professions.

Oh... and and you really shouldn't count outside spells, what if our people are rift hunting, hmm?

And again, I'd be happy with a small +5-15 AS buff in the 700 circle, nothing too major.

Personally, I think Sorcs need a professional circle bolt.

Here was my idea a while back.

Necrosis Bolt

Desc: summon a caliginous orb of living disease with wildly lashing appendages.


CHANNEL 716
8 mana.
DF = 901. AvD = 908. Disintegration crit table.
Base 2 Orbs. Summoning Lore increases number of Orbs by 1 at 10, 25, 45, 70, 100, 135, 175, 220 ranks. Each intermediary rank contributes a chance to produce another orb (e.g., 88 ranks would mean 6 orbs + 60% chance for 7 orbs). Additional orbs beyond the second cost 2 additional mana reduced by 1 mana per 10 elemental or spiritual lore ranks. Will not reduce past 8 mana. I chose CHANNEL to amplify the spell so creatures wouldn't fuck up characters.
May CHANNEL <target> or CHANNEL w/o target. If targeted, all orbs attack a single target, otherwise all orbs attack randomly assigned creatures in the room. If more orbs than creatures, "spillover" orbs attack a random creature. If an orb kills a creature and a "spillover" orb was assigned to that creature, the orb reassigns to another creature.
If hit, the creature is infected. Infections don't stack. Infection slows creature by 2 seconds increased by 1 at 10, 25, 45, 70, 100 Necro Lore ranks with intermediary ranks contributing a chance for an additional second reduction. Creature suffers base 25% vulnerability to ALL damage types + 1% Necro Lore on Seed 1.
Summoning Lore increases AvD of orbs by 1 per Seed 1.
Necro Lore increases DF by 1% per Seed 1.


The intent of this spell is that it doesn't require more AS on the part of the Sorc b/c the AvD is huge and can be increased but that it just has to hit for it to seriously set up/disable said creature(s) for pwnage or perhaps kill if multiple orbs hit.
