Neat. Habitable planets are very rarely portrayed with rings in science fiction, but I've always found them cool-looking. I think the planet from Star Trek: Insurrection had them.

Well I think having rings precludes having a decent sized moon which a lot of people think is pretty vital to life.

There'd also be the thing with that ring of darkness around the equator.

Yeah, I was hoping for them to portray some of the other effects on our planet that the rings would cause... not just photoshopping some bands into skylines.

Interesting, and glad you shared but a nerd blueballing.

Although I will say I'd never actually wondered about it.
