So, while I'm unemployed, I brought up the idea of wanting to play hockey again to my brother. He told me he was looking at adult league hockey in the area, and tryouts were next week. The cost is $400.
I know I cant do that, but I was looking up the adult leagues and what time public skating was/etc for the areas ice rinks (in atlanta, there's only 3ish :( )
One rink has monday-friday public adult hockey from noon-2pm, for $10/game.
I got pretty excited knowing I could just grab the gear we have (from when we were teens, 10++ years ago), most of it fits, and hit a game for $10 if I have the opportunity.
I'm pretty excited. Havent really skated in ~4 years, and then ~5 before that. I bought brand new skates 4 years ago for adult hockey in NY (where you didnt need pads). The only equipment I'll need now is a stick and mayb a new helmet.. the ones we have are ...painful to squeeze into.
YEAH HOCKEY!

oh, I just got done with a seasonal position, so I knew I was going to be unemployed.
Had like 5 interviews so far, waiting to hear back from two management positions later this week or next

Well, I don't play hockey. But I do play in a very competitive adult soccer league. Shit is damn fun playing regular sports again. I forgot how much the fee's and whatnot are. But they cover non shitty pitch usage/equipment/refs/etc etc. It's a hell of a way to get some me from away the kids for a few hours a week. That and it's some good exercise. My legs look like they did when I was on active duty right now. BEAST SON!! BEAST!
I'd love it if we had hockey down here, but I can't skate, and I'd probably suck at it....

Indoor Lacrosse Leagues are also fun, but it's very hard to find an Indoor Sports Complex near alot of areas I think.
Ice hockey is always fun, adult leagues/open hockey is even better.
When I was younger and playing for my HS team, I was also playing in the local Adult league because they were so short handed one night, a friend and I both subbed in for them and it was sad at how many goals we both shared that one night

yeah, when I played adult league 4ish years ago, I did well, even though it was my first time skating in like five years. Most adults are there, as DB says, to get some away from family time.
Plus it's fun and gives you an excuse to hit other people.

Down here adult baseball and softball leagues are huge.
We've had several adult football leagues but they've all failed and good luck getting on the team.
There's still lots of hockey leagues however but baseball is probably the most serious adult league around with softball being second. They both take that shit way too seriously.

I'm gonna keep going to Rangers' games until they bring The Whalers back to CT. It will happen.
