Finally getting around to sell that coraesine sword that everyone's been bugging me about.

a curved coraesine sword

5x, greatsword base, 12 pounds, 75/200

Obviously non-attunable coraesine, seeing as I'm selling it.

>l sword
The massive sword resembles nothing so much as an oversized khopesh. Its single-edged coraesine blade rises from a two-handed ironwood grip, straight and true for several handspans before angling into a sharp curve. The misty white metal grows more densely streaked with dark grey as it tapers toward its heavy point. No guard adorns the hilt to separate grip from blade. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.
There appears to be something written on it.

>read sword
In the Common language, it reads:
Scorn

Loresong:

As you sing, your vision clouds over and a scene unfolds for you. A pair of hands, weathered and strong from long hours at the forge, tirelessly pump air through a huge bellows.

As you continue to sing, your field of view widens. A sturdy dwarf works at a blazing hot forge. Slowly he turns a thick slab of shimmering metal in the coals until it glows an intense white. Soon he stops pumping the bellows and removes the metal from the fire to begin working it into a weapon.

As you continue to sing, you see the dwarven smith place the weapon inside the fire, heating it once again. With carefully placed strokes he finishes shaping the weapon. As he completes the work he drops it into a a barrel of water in an explosion of steam.

You sense that the sword is of a time long past. The smith carefully lays the weapon aside and an old dwarf wisened with age takes it up. The old dwarf begins chanting over it in a rough gutteral voice. As you watch, power radiates from his hands and encompasses the weapon. When it is finished, the weapon begins to glow with power.

I don't swing two handers so I had to go pick on crystal golems:

You swing a curved coraesine sword at a crystal golem!
AS: +174 vs DS: +119 with AvD: +44 + d100 roll: +47 = +146
... and hit for 19 points of damage!
Blow raises a welt on the crystal golem's left arm.
You feel a slight resistance from the weapon. Quicker than you are able to react the resistance fades and you notice your movements speed up!
You swing a curved coraesine sword at a crystal golem!
AS: +174 vs DS: +117 with AvD: +44 + d100 roll: +14 = +115
... and hit for 5 points of damage!
A feeble blow to the crystal golem's left arm!
A blast of air strikes the crystal golem.
... 20 points of damage!
Good blow to head!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

You swing a curved coraesine sword at a crystal golem!
AS: +174 vs DS: +95 with AvD: +44 + d100 roll: +67 = +190
... and hit for 49 points of damage!
Left kneecap smashed into pulp.
The crystal golem is knocked to the ground!
You feel a slight resistance from the weapon. Quicker than you are able to react the resistance fades and you notice your movements speed up!
You swing a curved coraesine sword at a crystal golem!
AS: +174 vs DS: +39 with AvD: +44 + d100 roll: +15 = +194
... and hit for 48 points of damage!
Internal organs bruised.
A blast of air strikes the crystal golem.
... 15 points of damage!
Nice blow to chest!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

And of course the famous backlash for those of us without the right stats:

You swing a curved coraesine sword at a crystal golem!
AS: +150 vs DS: +80 with AvD: +44 + d100 roll: +19 = +133
... and hit for 22 points of damage!
Smash to the kneecap.
Your weapon twists in your hand as you struggle to control it. With a sudden surge of power the weapon swivels in your grip and strikes at you!
You swing a curved coraesine sword at yourself!
AS: +150 vs DS: +87 with AvD: +47 + d100 roll: +39 = +149
... and hit for 8 points of damage!
Quick slash to Vyst's upper left arm!
Just a nick.
A blast of air strikes you.
... 15 points of damage!
Nasty blow to your abdomen!
You are stunned for 1 round!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Got Futtilo to test it out a little better than I:

Futtilo swings a curved coraesine sword at an Illoke jarl!
AS: +437 vs DS: +342 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +89 = +220
... and hits for 57 points of damage!
Blow to chest causes the Illoke jarl's heart to skip a beat.
The Illoke jarl is stunned!
Futtilo seems to flinch momentarily as his weapon jerks in his hand. Suddenly he moves with blinding speed!
Futtilo swings a curved coraesine sword at an Illoke jarl!
Unable to focus clearly, the Illoke jarl blindly blocks the attack!
A blast of air strikes the Illoke jarl.
... 40 points of damage!
Hard blow to temple scrambles brain!
The Illoke jarl grumbles in pain one last time before lying still.
The very powerful look leaves an Illoke jarl.
The white light leaves an Illoke jarl.
The dull golden nimbus fades from around an Illoke jarl.
The dim celadon wisps about an Illoke jarl's hands flare up once more and fade completely away.
An Illoke jarl loses the flickering energy surrounding him.
An Illoke jarl seems to lose some focus as his eyes narrow and shift momentarily to one side.

Futtilo leaps from hiding to attack!
Futtilo swings a curved coraesine sword at an Illoke jarl!
AS: +421 vs DS: +220 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +35 = +272

Left arm ripped from socket at the elbow!
The Illoke jarl rumbles in pain as his heavy stone arm falls to the ground!
The jarl's iron-banded greatshield falls to the ground.
Futtilo seems to flinch momentarily as his weapon jerks in his hand. Suddenly he moves with blinding speed!
Futtilo swings a curved coraesine sword at an Illoke jarl!
AS: +421 vs DS: +154 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +77 = +380
... and hits for 128 points of damage!
Right hand severed at the wrist!
The Illoke jarl rumbles in pain as his heavy stone arm falls to the ground!
The jarl's grey stone hammer falls to the ground.
A blast of air strikes the Illoke jarl.
... 20 points of damage!
Light blow to right leg.
A blast of air strikes the Illoke jarl.
... 30 points of damage!
Good blow to right arm!

If you weren't paying attention, that's FIVE STRIKES on that last one. Two extra swings plus two air blasts.

CB: Bought out by m444w for 50mil!

Yup, as Widgets said this thing gives double-strike plus air flares. IT DOES NOT ATTUNE TO ANYONE. In order to prevent the backlash you have to have high stats. I believe bonuses in INF and DIS are what you're looking for.

There are several "lesser" versions out that dont attune in the same sense that you cannot get rid of them.

They do, from what I understand, partially attune so that you get wtfpwned less by backlashes. Kind of like black ora weapons.

Ah so this is the lesser one and just does double swing flares and air flares?

Correct.

I told Vyst that when he posted, to make it more clear that it only gives the double strike and air flares, and will not attune to one owner but he didn't!

It also doesnt have any other features of coraesine besides the flares....No call wind, haste, hand of tonis and thorns etc

There are also HCW Coraesine waraxe's out there too.

I just added a custom verb to one of them for the owner.

Black ora doesn't attune.

Black ora doesn't attune.

I didn't claim that they did. I was simply comparing the way lesser coraesine and black ora react to their owners.

EDIT: But according to Krakiipedia, lesser coraesine doesn't get used to its owner like I thought anyways, the backlash is based on stats or something.

3x (I want to say DCW) and 4x (hcw) coraesine waraxes were released. For all intents and purposes they're just fel hafters with a fancy metal. So, nothing special.

I'll ask again since we're on topic. Anyone have a shape-shifting coraesine weapon from the '99 auction? I used to have two of em, and would play again if I could find one of them. Could be changed to different OHE types. Been looking for the damn thing for years.

Not, i decided to pay 7 mill more so I didn't have to deal with the auction daily, or worry about Chiv doing the same. Sorry i'm not Jewish, you fucking cockmongler. Only thing retarded is your sense of what the fuck happened consider how close the auction came to the BO, and how deep Chiv's (Drew's) pockets are. If I want something, I buy it. Sorry you can't do the same.

I have to agree with O on this one. Should an item you want (and is as limited as something like this) be approaching the BO with several bidders actively moving up the price, one should well consider simply eating the price difference and taking the BO. Why gamble over a few million silver more when it is clear the item is in demand, can likely achieve the same amount in resale, and it is something you wanted for near that price in the first place?

I would agree with this and say that I personally see at least a 50m value in the weapon, so I think the BO was fair.

I thought we were getting into too high territory for this weapon, but who knows. Obviously things are worth what someone will pay for them. I originally thought this thing would get no bids at 35 then I decided to offer more than that. Personally I didn't think it was crazy for him to buy it out, I would have done the same in a different scenario.

Edit: Also Ondreian if you decide to sell it in the future please contact me.

As the owner of a coraesine weapon, I thought I'd weigh in. While the rarity of the weapon is beyond dispute, from a mechanical point of view, it's not worth more than 10m in my estimation, the double strikes making up the largest portion of the value. The same weapon base in 5x hcw would out perform this weapon. But I've overpaid tens of millions for items before just because I wanted them while others scoffed, so more power to the buyer.

LMingrone
11-21-2009, 07:09 PM
But what about someone with TWC, weilding two of them, hasted, MOC, MStriking? Your probably right that it's a waste, but how cool is that? I know someone had two of them at one point.

If someone has the needed stats, this is an absolutely devastating weapon. I owned it years ago and never got more than one extra swing. However when I tested it for Vyst, I was getting many MANY more.

I still didn't have the stats for no backlash, so you can imagine what an undodgable greatsword that takes ambush pushdown and crit weighting into effect does to a rogue wearing robes.

While this one lacks the benefits of the pure coraesine, it still has the potential for multiple swings which is the real selling point. Tack on warrior bonding at rank 5, and enough enhancives (or a race like Erithians who get fat bonuses to the stats effecting backlash) and it starts to get crazy.

Best of all, it can be transferred to someone else :D

Didn't need to. I already swing one handed edged. But if I had, I'd have been sorely disappointed and fixskilled back. The restrictions on the spell usage (2x a day, 3x a day) leave a lot to be desired unfortunately, unless you only hunt once every 24 hours. Aside from that, it's much like the weapon that just sold here and you know where I stand on that.
