A "cylinder" -

After a careful inspection you determine that a blood red vultite cylinder requires skill in blunt weapons to be able to effectively beat something over the head with it.

AvD: Skin - 20, Fulls - 19, Studded - 21, Hauberk - 13, augmented breastplate - 24

DF:

Against plate (augmented breastplate):
You swing a blood red vultite cylinder at a hill troll!
AS: +117 vs DS: +76 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +94 = +159
... and hit for 9 points of damage!
Thumped the hill troll's chest.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Any thoughts on what base this is? One of the telescoping lances.

They WERE ball & chain based.

They WERE ball & chain based.

It almost matches the ball and chain info from Krakiipedia, but it's slightly off in that it gave 21 instead of 23 for studded leather (against a hill troll):

http://www.krakiipedia.org/wiki/Blunt

More info:

Careful examination indicates the vultite cylinder has a base strength of 50 and a base durability of 130. You also determine the current integrity of the vultite cylinder to be at 100.0%.

I guess for lack of anything better to say, I'll just go with ball and chain, then. Thanks, Stun.

Yep. :)

Looks like it has it's own unique base.

"Similar" to a ball and chain!

It's a cudgel. .150 Plate DF is between .144 and .161, all the AvDs match.

They don't, though:

So it's a club that swings like it has a pair of balls.

I'm 80% sure the AvDs on the play.net are wrong. I can test when I get home.

KP, actually. But I'm curious to see if you're right.

I have heard that the ball and chain cannot be swung from the left hand.

If this is true (easy to verify), then you can test whether or not that is a ball and chain base by swinging it from your left hand, with another OHB in your right hand. If it swings, its not a ball and chain, and you are back to the other possible options (unique base, or cudgel).

You could also check the weapon speed to find the weapon base. Ball and chains have a base weapon speed of 6, ambush 9. So ambush with your rod and see how many seconds it takes. I assume that you know how to account for your agi/dex bonuses effect on rate during this test.

The point of my post is to use other ifnormation about weapons to ID the thing if DF and avd are not forthcoming. Probably weapon rate is the best first filte.

Good advice. Without any TWC training, I get the "you cannot find an opening for your left-hand strike" message swinging it in my off-hand, which seems to suggest it would work if I could do it. As for base speed, I'd have to pass it off to someone else to test. My AGIDEX bonus is 62, and I ambush at 6 seconds with it.

They don't, though:

25 26 25 24 23 25 23 21 19 26 22 18 14 24 18 12 6>at rol
You swing a cudgel at a rolton!
AS: +19 vs DS: +18 with AvD: +20 + d100 roll: +12 = +33
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

20 never occurs in the play.net/KP AvDs, so we know those are wrong. These are the ones I have:

* 20 ** 20 19 18 17 ** 25 23 21 19 * 25 21 17 13 ** 30 24 18 12

Which have a 20 and otherwise sync up perfectly with the cylinder. I don't know what the deal with play.net is, maybe those are GS III AvDs?

Huh. Could be. Well, a cudgel makes sense, and the AvDs match, so let's go with that.

Why would you swing it like that instead of snapping it out and using it as a lance?
